So, the first name to be traded Post draft has dropped.

John Franklin-Myers has been traded by the Jets to the Broncos for a 2026 6th round pick.

In other news:

Dallas is re-signing Ezekiel Elliott pending a physical.

Other teams are busy, I see. Our team is "collaborating," or something.

I went through the transcript of Mayo's WEEI appearance:

He is a master of sometimes immediate self-contradiction. I am not quibbling over diction or rhetoric: this is a firmly established habit of mind for Mayo, and I believe it is problematic. I am feeling a degree of nostalgia for the Days of Belichick when Bill indicated he had nothing to say by saying nothing, clearly and succinctly. Mayo says nothing at length and ad nauseum:

"No, that’s right..."

(On whether or not there was any discussion about J.J. McCarthy...). “No, there was absolutely discussion"

And anyone who has ever led or organized anything knows this sort of nonsense will not work:

“Yeah, it was great. Honestly, it was a great way to learn, watching different positions and grading them and writing reports. And Elliot, he would edit the report because it was my first time, and it would come back with all this red ink on it and stuff like he’s the English teacher. But it was a great experience. And I would say we did it a little bit more than we’ve done in the past, this past draft. So I love it. I think the coaches love it as well. And those guys felt heard, which is important.”

No Jerrod, there are other things which are far more "important." While our leadership was sitting in a drum circle sharing and feeling good about themselves, having a "great experience," other teams were bringing aggression and creativity to the draft process. You see the comparative results.

I appreciate Mayo’s openness. As of right now, I don’t care about the other stuff you mentioned… if it indeed exists.

What has he been open about that you appreciate? Be specific please because I feel most of what he's said hasn't turned out.

Even just what I quoted…that’s refreshing compared to a stare and “we’re not getting into that right now”.

“Turned out?” He’s been HC for what…2-3 months?

Bill could and would say something like that lol

I guess I just don't see how someone who says nothing at length and then, when he does stumble into actually saying something, immediately contradicts it, or retracts it at the next opportunity, is the sort of leader one wants. I think people like him because he's "nice." I couldn't care less whether he's nice or not. I care about what he knows and what he can do. There's a lot of this these days - a pet peeve of mine, I will admit. People will say for example how "nice" their new doctor is, as if that has any bearing whatsoever on the quality of care they are likely to get. I find that foolish, childish. We live in the era of the ****eating grin and rampant happy talk, and I, as a certified curmudgeon, am annoyed.

My first thought was it wasn’t an accident and someone trying to be funny, then I remembered all the times autocorrect has overruled me.

If that hasn’t happened yet with Penix it is going to.
It's almost as if autocorrect has a mind of its own, just like...

I think Mayo covers all the bases in every direction. He has to hit on something. I prefer something over nothing but what happens on the field is my main focus. Can Mayo actually be a good HC and get the team going? Our only option is to wait and see, but I'm not as confident now as I was earlier.

My confidence or opinion on him hasn't changed I just feel this idea that he's some open book is not right. Feels like what he's been open about didn't actually turn out the way he said.

Seems like the players are buying in so that's what is important right now. Xs and Os will be what makes or breaks him because it seems like the guys want to follow him now he's just needs to teach them correctly.
