From NFL.com chats. First, Kirwan:

Matt Cassel, Foxborough, MA
Pat, Do you think I have what it takes to succeed on another team or am I just a system quarterback and destined to be the next Scott Mitchell?

Pat Kirwan, NFL.com
Matt, I can't believe you'd think that when you look in the mirror. I believe you'll do fine wherever you go next. You have a strong arm, have been well coached, and have much more mobility than Scott Mitchell ever dreamsed of. You can run away from a problem. Mitchell ran right into them.

And Steve Wyche:

LeRon, Kansas City, Missouri
What do you think the Chiefs would have to give up to get Matt Cassel? And would it be worth it?

Steve Wyche, NFL.com
LeRon, It would take a lot, including the Chiefs' No. 3 overall pick this year and probably a few more picks in this draft and the 2010 draft. On top of that, some players could be included. I don't think the Pats will trade Cassell before the draft though unless they have guarantees that Tom Brady is going to be 100 percent healthy.

Somehow, I'm guessing he's overestimating.

Somebody get Wyche in charge of KC, QUICK!

So, what's the official board take on Cassel's worth at this point? Last I heard it was two 2nd rounders, a year's worth of Campbell's Chunky Soup and 70% off outerwear at Burlington Coat Factory.

2 2nds does seem to be the going assumption around here, but I think that a first and a second, or maybe a first and a third, is more likely.

Wow. What would we do at 3? The safe pick would be an ol or A.Curry. But, M.Crabtree is going to be a pro-bowler. Tom Brady would grab Gisele and get a quickie in if he heard that news.

Curry in a heart beat. He sure looks and acts like the reincarnation of Willie Mac!!

They would definitely try to trade down, if they can't they will take J. Smith from Baylor. The way this kid talks and the way he is built really reminds me of a patriot player.

I'm also curious how far Andre Smith is dropping right now, maybe he even falls to us at 23, and then i think BB might take him and we would have an elite RT

I don't. Try looking at it from the hopeless perspective of a team without a QB. Think of the JEST viewpoint. They are hoping the Josh Freemen falls to them at 17, after spending a second on Clemons and a second on Favre in the past two years. That is a first and two seconds and they stil won't have a QB for three years or more...

Besides Freemen is a soph and a mighty desperate reach...

A third, sadly, and I think they get a pick back from the Packers in 2010 if Favre doesn't play in 2009.

we would take curry at three, hes a special player. BB doesnt like to draft to early because of money but when there is a truley special player he will not pass on him.
