NFL.COM Says Pats still AFC favorites even after all this FA activity

It makes sense, because the biggest rivals (arguably) to the Patriots last year - Chiefs, Chargers, and Steelers, haven't really improved either. So in order to bump the champs off the top of the favorites list, you'd need to assume that the improvements to the tier 2 teams is enough to leap frog everyone else, and that's a hard thing to guarantee.

Eh, maybe not much, but the WR and TE groupings are still very much in the air. We also don't know for sure that we have a good LT in Wynn, and as disappointing as Shelton and Brown were, we still have only physically replaced one of them. I'm confident we'll find another through the draft or another signing, but until we do that's will a "loss" in my book.
