Re: Newsday: Did the Jets spy on the Patriots, too?

It's on ESPN now too. This story will go nowhere. We are the sacrificial lamb and just have to deal with it.

Sorry, espn.com, not tv, just wanted to clarify.

Re: Newsdayid the Jets spy on the Patriots, too?

So you're saying that the Jets are lying about having permission to tape there and that the Patriots never said anything about it and then the Jets in turn thought it would be a great idea to narc on the Patriots for the same thing?

How stupid do you think these people are? If the Jets were really caught doing something untoward last year no way in hell they'd antagonize the Patriots by reporting them for the same thing.

Using this reasoning the Pats cameraman had permission from the Jets in Sept. He had a field pass that the Pats applied for and the Jets gave him.

Re: Newsdayid the Jets spy on the Patriots, too?

Goodell won't do jack about it, because he has ties from his past to the RATS.
The only way peole will notice this is if the fans of the Pats start making some noise about the double standard being set.

The problem here is that the NFL didn't get involved because the Patriots did not rat them out, so Goodell doesn't have anything to go on except hearsay. As stated numerous times by different former coaches and current NFL officials, this has been going on for some time, and it wasn't just pertaining to the Patriots, that's why the memo went out in Sept.
The one thing Goodell should do is stop all this "Cheating" talk nonsense in the media, yes the patriots broke a rule, but Goodell stated that the tape did not compromise any games past, present or future. He should come out and re-emphisize this and get all these whinners to shut up.

Pats. vs Rats, can't wait!

Re: Newsdayid the Jets spy on the Patriots, too?

Good point. They did just admit they violated the NFL rules...a rule that Commissioner Goodell seems to take very seriously. Seems to me that he has no choice but to take their 1st round pick and whack Mangini with a $500,000 fine.

Technically, if it was equal punishment, they should lose their 2nd and 3rd rounder since they won't make the playoffs.

You are 100% correct. Good points

Yes, I think they're lying about permission. Why on God's green Earth would the Patriots give them permission????? And if they did, why do the Jets acknowledge the Pats confronted them and had the guy removed. That makes no sense and is inconsistent with "having permission." Maybe they asked some low-level security guard actually at the stadium if they could film there (showing their Jets credentials)....but when those with real authority found out, no way. The Jets are just being coy.

Espn news are running a spot on Mangini BB that talks about Mangini recruiting people on the ride home from the playoff game and they mention the Newsday story during the piece also.

Re: Newsday: Did the Jets spy on the Patriots, too?

Mike Greenberg mentioned it this morning too.

Hey, the more media attention to this disgusting and obvious double standard, the better.

Newsday: Jets caught videotaping last season

Found this via my ProJo blog, we've heard it before, but this is the most definitive story I've heard:

http://www.newsday.com/sports/football/jets/ny-spjets125497053dec12,0,2673323.story

Odds of this story going anywhere? ZERO. Because when it gets down to it, nobody cares about videotaping signals, they only care that the Pats did it. The Jets contend that their videotaping was legal - though the cameraman was asked to be removed by the Patriots.

Agreed. This story must not go away until the Rats are exposed as the disgusting, two faced, back stabbing, low life, double dealing cheats they really are

Re: Newsday: Did the Jets spy on the Patriots, too?

ESPN mentioned it...who cares if they had the patriots permission ?? isnt it required to get league permission... ? that is a bunch of BS. You think BB said its okay to tape his team in his own stadium ?

Re: Newsday: Did the Jets spy on the Patriots, too?

There was never a "rule". It was a directive by Goodell who got up one morning, put on his badge and gun, and decided this had to stop.

If I'm wrong , please show me in the "rule book" where that "rule" is.

There was no permission. That's why he was removed. Plus, the camera site wasn't enclosed, as per league rules. It was a clear violation. The Jets are playing damage control.

I've heard this on the board many times - if this is the case, what an oversight by the media. It really puts in perspective what a crazy witch hunt devoid of any reason or logic the entire videogate crap thing was.

Re: Newsday: Did the Jets spy on the Patriots, too?

iam sure these couldve been among the tapes BB turned into the league.
