"(Reiss)ats very thin at RG. (Schefter): Former Chiefs Pro Bowl G Brian Waters tried out for the Patriots today."

I saw his name mentioned several days ago; not surprised the Pats are considering him.

Would LOVE to sign Brian Waters. Suggested it a few weeks ago in a thread regarding Connolly and the situation at RG. Hopefully the Pats bring him in. Not the same player he used to be, but could still help this O-line.

I'd like to see them sign Waters or Gurode and maybe Crumpler but they may wait until the contracts aren't guaranteed.

That's one reason I'm looking at waiver-wire guys like DeGeare to maybe kick the tires on earlier. If you don't like what you see, then turn to the vested vets after game 1. :confused2:

And Fusco wasn't released unfortunately.

In an ideal world, I would LOVE to see all three of those signings made. You can never have enough quality veteran depth.

Re: Announced Patriots cuts: countdown to 53

Yes... The Jets got an extention from Pizza Hut.
No take out orders after 10pm.... Rex got an extention until 11:59 pm...

Jets and giants get an extension since they played 2 games this week.

Stylez G White released.

You mean the best DL in the league, according to Pro Football Focus? That's a surprise.

Quinn Ojinnaka was cut by the Rams. Think the Pats will consider picking him up again?

Hahaha, that was my initial thought too. But wait, he's better than Tom Brady!

I'm not seeing any headliners who have been cut (except our Merriweather). Isn't this the cut where we normally say wow, so and so got cut.

Wow. I mean, I can understand if it was Ghloston or Maybin and he had 0 sacks in 2 years, I would cut him but the dude has 6.5 sacks the last two years.

Well, we cut Tully Banta-Cain...

I don't know enough about Brown really to comment.

I remember the Panthers trading away a future 1st rounder to get him in the 2nd round. He might be a 3-4 OLB. 6'1 256lbs ish.

My mistake. I thought he was older since he'd lost a year with the Rhodes Scholarship. Also, you can claim it's "talent" all you want, but most people thought it was commitment was why he fell. Since he KNOWS that football won't be his only job in life.

Again, just because he was cut, at the end of camp, both years doesn't mean anything. As I said, though he was cut at the end of camp LAST year, he was immediately re-signed to the practice squad. Something that happened to Wendell, Hochstein, Ashworth, etc, on the Patriots. Just because he was "cut" doesn't mean he's BAD. Especially if he get's re-signed to the practice squad.

That's fair enough, DB. As I said, it's not like I claim to be a professional scout, so I really don't know. It just seems to me that the majority of his popularity and worth is from his Rhodes scholar label. Since I have been watching him at Fla.St I have wondered what all the hype was about, but you are correct in stating that his making the PS was something good.

The bottom line is that I personally feel that he is overhyped, but since my opinion and 5 bucks will buy you a cup of coffee at Starbucks, it will remain to be seen what happens in his career.

Haven't seen anyone mention Davin Drew as a potential TE replacement.

He's a pretty big guy at 260.
