Not to speak for Aqua, but the Fins did get a player they sorely needed in Satele. Now personally, I think I might have rather had Quinn, Satele and Welker rather than Beck, Satele and Ginn, but the trade was certainly reasonable for them.

For the Patriots, if you think of Welker as a draft pick, here's a basis for evaluation.

The Patriots spent pick #60 on a slot receiver, signing him to a 5-year, $18 million contract. The Colts spent pick #32 on a slot receiver, signing him to a 5-year, $7 million contract. The Pats spent twice as much money, but the Colts spent twice as valuable a draft pick.

Pats receiver so far: Averaging 7 catches a game for 75 yards; returned 17 punts for 10 yd average; returned 5 KOs for 26 yd average; 2 rushes for 16 yd average.

Colts receiver to date: Averaging 2 catches a game for 30 yards; no returns; no rushes.

Why didn't you mention Welker's 5 TD's?

Too small, not fast enough, probably won't make the team.

Yes, I know, I'm just being facetious.

would been just another wasted effort, like that Seymour guy...and while we're at it, why did we blow a good Sixth Round pick on the Michigan backup...when are those guys ever gonna learn...

Whoopsie-daisy, quite the oversight!

I actually like Gonzalez, he's likely to be a very good player down the road. Ginn may well become one too. Look at Braylon Edwards, who is playing every bit like the high draft pick he was. The problem is, Edwards has only hit that mark now, halfway through a 5-year, $40 million contract. This result is more common with WRs than any other position.

A 5-year deal with Welker projects to 5 solid years of NFL production. Just say no to WRs in the first round.

And, say hello to Rey Maualuga OR Kenny Phillips! :rocker:

You don't want to select Welker, you want somebody else to do it, take the risk, develop him, and then we steal him for a song.

I'd rather it had been from the Jets, but I'll take the Dolphins.
