New England Chicken Littles

Good thing the Super Bowl isn't next week.

Let's try to get this through to you one final time, since you seem impervious to logic, and I've got better things to do than continue this with someone who can't be bothered to think:

I, personally, would have taken the ball, for basically the same reason you mention in your second to last sentence: I want the ball in Brady's hands at the start of damn near every OT scenario. However, I'm capable of acknowledging that my personal preference doesn't mean that the decision to kick off was a ridiculous decision under the circumstances. The argument for kicking off has a lot of merit to it, despite my preference, and yours, for a different decision.

There is a significant difference in degree between disagreeing with a decision and calling a decision crazy, ridiculous, stupid, etc...

we'll have to agree to disagree about the egregiousness of the call. It would have been less egregious if we weren't on their turf but at home but egregious none the less.

Do you want to play to win or not to lose?
Its not Madden. There are times when taking a knee or being ultra conservative is the right thing to do.

Again, you and I dont have to like the kick off. But there is some justification and precedent for it despite what some of the posters here think

The '13 World Series doesn't happen if Deus' logic would have been applied. You give the ball to Brady no matter what. Look what they did in the snow at the end of the game in Denver. Without Gronk.

We didn't give the ball to Brady first in the 2013 game vs Denver and that turned out pretty well.

You are not allowed to use that scenario because it dosent mesh with the narrative of the "you always give to ball to TB" contingent and you "always try to score in every situation" crowd.

Terrible comp. Bad weather and Manning was the QB. That Manning that can't throw a ball 15 yards in the cold and high winds.

Any other bad examples?

The example is fine. It demonstrates the importance of context.

Uhhh dude here's your own words:

You give the ball to Brady no matter what.

You said you give it to him no matter what. I cite an example where they didn't give it to him and you try to say it's a bad one. How is it possibly a bad example when you're supposed to give it to him "no matter what"?

You have me thoroughly confused.

Manning had 455 completions for 5477 yards that year and 55 touchdowns. He averaged 342 yards a game.

BTW all career bests. He is not the cold weather player TB is and is now a shell of what he was 2 years ago but 2 years ago was his best season statistically.

You saying giving the ball to the great QB (in any weather) is a bad example is really stretching it.

I don't have any problems with the kickoff, I agree with it. My comment was about sitting on it before halftime.

That was puzzling. Is it possible TB took a shot before it and was hurting. I have never seen that so something may have happened. It so out of character for the team so I have to give them the benefit of the doubt that something happened. It did look bad though.

This team had more talent on the defensive side of the game-day roster today than they had on the offensive side. I had no problem kicking to the jesters and making Fitzy win the game vs our defense.

Which he did, surprisingly.

My bad. I forgot the outlier of a Manning led team in a high wind, cold night.

So, outside of a blizzard against an inept QB, give it to 12. Good enough?

I forgot about that game myself. Do you remember how Manning looked physically in that game? He had the get me out of here look. He was miserable. His good weather games have no bearing on that singular game.

They've been doing it a lot lately. They used to defer and get a two for one possession to end the first half and start the second. Lately they've just been wasting that last possession in the first half.

I dont like the **** football either. But there is a good reason for it. Anyway, I hope when the playoffs start they get back to some more aggressive/hurry up stuff etc. Granted you need the horses to do that and they dont really have that now.

Don't really think you can call Manning inept the year he broke the touchdown and yardage record.

And how about we add the whole having the most depleted offense in Brady's tenure here going up against one of the top defense's in the NFL. And how about we add in the fact that our defense was outplaying our offense all game and if we got that stop then we would only need a field goal to win it.

I think that can be considered an outlier.

Honest question regarding how they have been wasting the last possession of the half.

Could it possibly be the lack of personelle making it difficult to run the 2 minute offense?
