The top schools make huge amounts from football. It is enough to fund all other sports. I suppose that basketball might break even, but all the rest need support.

In the real world, the student workers that produce all this wealth should get paid. In the fantasy world, there is no profit and the workers are treated very well with their scholarships for working their long hours.
