At the end of his 3rd year Truth was pumping in 26ppg.

If Jaylen was doing that I wouldn't be even suggesting moving him was an option worth considering.
I'm definitely not comparing Jaylen to Pierce, but I'd like to see what Jaylen can do for a season playing beside Tatum and when the weight is put on him as the "points machine" and what Stevens can scheme up for him. I'm hoping he could average somewhere in that 20-26 ppg range if given that opportunity.

I am totally fine w/ Jaylen being a building block. 18/6 per 36min w/ good D sounds fine to me.

I was just suggesting he is an incredibly valuable asset.

Middleton is staying in MIL.......but it will come at the expense of mirotic, lopez, and brogdon though brogdon is restricted

Toronto's problems are more longer term regardless of whether they keep Leonard or not.....ithey can bring the band back together is they want to pay a steep luxury tax for a year, but a bunch of guys are up at the end of next year

Someone did a +/- wins share for Mil players and it ranked them this way, IIRC:
  1. Giannis
  2. Brogdon
  3. Middleton
  4. Hill
  5. Lopez
  6. Bledsoe (max contract)

If he would've been the key to bringing an Anthony Davis type player here then I'm all in, but like you suggest, a lot of teams are interested in him for a reason. I don't think he has had a chance to play up to his full potential yet.

But you got Bol Bol ... time to party.
Yeah... a health risk whose effort is questionable. I didn’t complain about him because he went 44. But I was less than enthused.

Agree. I fully support giving him the minutes and seeing where his game goes.

different circumstances......Pierce had the 'luxury' of hoisting those points on a crappy team.....his averages dropped 7-8 points when garnett and allen showed up

tiny archibald averaged 12 points per game with the celtics, 25 points everywhere else.......it all depends on if your team sucks or not

Agree on Truth. He was THE GUY so his value was higher. At least now they have Gordo and Tatum to take on the scoring load.

Tiny absolutely was a secondary option in the offense and was still very good but not the same player he was before his achilles injury.

Miami should’ve kept Bol for themselves instead of trading the pick to DEN. If he were to pan out he’s got lottery pick talent; if not who cares you wasted a 2nd round pick.

Yeah, but Pat Riley.

Celtics agree to two-way contract with DePaul guard Max Strus

71
Max Strus
G/F, DePaul | Senior
Height: 6'6" | Weight: 220 | Age: 23 | Last Rank: 65
If you catch Strus on a good day, he looks the part as a potential NBA role player. The positive spin here would be that his numbers were masked somewhat by the setup at DePaul, where he saw a lot of defensive attention and not enough open looks. The former D-II transfer can be a deadly outside shooter when he gets going, and is also an underrated ball-handler and passer who might benefit playing alongside pros. Strus has an NBA-type body, is more athletic than you realize, and he’s strong and tough enough to think he will be able to at least keep up defensively. That being said, it’s not his forte, and he won’t be able to last as a specialist without drastically improving his effort level there.

Agree. He’s not what he once was. Miami should be an attractive destination for FAs. Great weather, no state tax..
It would be if the team had an ounce of non-mediocre talent. Dwyane Wade didn’t die for this...

the most important thing to go back on is that Ainge had to make that deal for Irving.....he had no choice especially considering what the jazz gave up for mike conley.....what the C's gave up for Irving was insignificant plus they had him for 2 years.......you make that deal every time.....it just didn't work out
Can’t argue with your take.... but Flat Earther’s personality / leadership issues that infected Boston were on full display in Cleveland ... quitting on his team and refusing to even talk with teammates.
Ainge handed his franchise over to an immature primadonna and hoped organizational ass kissing would help mold him into a selfless leader.
Ainge ignored Belichick Rule #1.... it is what it is

Irving is a team cancer to a young team. Watching him this year reminded me of the old
Bill Simmons column on the Ewing theory, some teams do better without their superstar.
We saw this the year after the column originally appeared when the low round QB replaced
the QB with the Golden Arm.

I am glad to be rid of Irving the team will be more fun to watch next year. I hope the Hayward returns to something of his pre injury form.

Am the only one who love the Celtics Second Round selections?? The only knock against them both is Size but both can Ball. I think both are going to be fine bench players. Now we need some Bigs.

I hope we move on from Rozier he's too small for Point and he also a streaky shootee. We need slightly better than him at Point.

From the article:
It’s no surprise that Irving and Brown didn’t get along. Brown is an extremely smart kid and challenges himself intellectually. Irving likes to think of himself as an intellectual and challenges anyone who doesn’t agree with him — or just anyone randomly, as he did with head coach Brad Stevens. One can only imagine the rifts between Brown and Irving that had nothing to do with basketball.
I'm imagining Jalen getting fed up with Kyrie's Flat Earth talk and finally telling him to STFU.

Regards,
Chris

This morning, as predicted, I scratch my head and a WTF moment ensues.. have some trust in Ainge, but not BB trust.. what really puzzles me is that they gave Phoenix #24 with Aaron Baynes for salary cap room?? Even with the cap room, what are expectations without Horford, Irving and Baynes...

I do not get the NBA, its salary cap and the amount of power it gives to the players to develop their "superteams".. one of the many reasons that I do not watch it anywhere near as much as I used to.. otoh maybe now that Irving and his superego is gone, this team may be more watchable..

Even with one big name how can they match up against Philly or Milwaukee???

Addendum, heard this AM that in exchange for Baynes and #24 the Celtics get Phoenix #1 in 2020... not quite as bad as originally thought.
Feel the same way, the players run the league and decide what team/city gets to win the championship. And some teams like the lakers have an un-fair advantage in getting players.
