My Proposed Offer To Jordan

My man OP needs his own OL talk subsection here. Or just own subsection period
I think coaching. More so than talent on an O line is so pivotal. We had **** coaching the last few season. Seems like Peter's is doing a Goof job seen as how he has a JAG at LT.

Again, this needs it's own thread?
The place is pretty much dead at this point. Maybe MG is just trying to get some people clicking and talking.

Since Brady left, egged on by talk radio, every thread became an extra-football battle and/or a *****-fest.

Anger has a sell-by date.

1) I believe that there is a limit of 3 elevations.
2) Someone else might pick him up, when we I would greatly rather have him starting over Leverett.
3) In the end, it seems that folks here prefer Leverett. OK.
if we release him & he clears waivers, we can resign him to the ps, starting the three elevations from scratch

I like the individual threads for questions/statements because if they go in a preexisting thread they may be over looked. My question is are you paying the bill yourself for threads started?

The problem with this is if he continues to play and perform well he will probably not clear waivers next time.

thats always the risk. but the brakes on that is the other team has to put him on the 53... so it a risk, but then again so is just about everything

Of course.

Lots of teams are looking for backups that can play. We are saying that Jordan starts 3 times and plays reasonably well, and still no one will be interested in signing him. Perhaps, perhaps not.

TO BE MORE CLEAR
Our backup LT seems to be Jordan. We choose not to give him a contract and just elevate him each week. That seems very strange to me. At SOME point, a team will just sign him to contact and our backup LG with be Leverett.

I like Jordan. Until things go south - I think he should stay both on the roster & in the starting lineup. Perfect ? Far from it. But when compared to what I thought I’d be watching……. Miam.

I love @mgteich. I don’t always agree with his assessment of certain players or specific situations, but he cares about the bottom of the roster more than anyone other than BB himself. This dedication alone is enough for me to confidently state YES, these threads are awesome.

Possible sacrilege : his threads are the most entertaining since the legend himself left us a few years ago……. (Post exploding Galactica or a Survey including a certain *possible* murderous linebacker here)

Talent wise you are probably right but Jordan knows the system and there is value in that and honestly he did pretty well last week.
Bengal's defense and especially interior defensive lineman aren't good.

They drafted two promising DT's but neither is playing yet.

We need perspective on the level of competition they faced.

you deserve to be forced to start Leverett this week if Jordan is picked up by someone else. But that's fine; all the scrubs are equal. NOT
We're debating different levels of average here... snore.

They faced an NFL team. I personally wasn’t sure this OL was even capable of keeping NCAA defenders away from their QB…

So, from my perspective, keeping things decently clean vs any team was a win.

Jacoby was pressured at a higher rate than any QB in the NFL in week one so... they need to improve a lot.

Brissett and Rhamondre were exceptional at avoiding contact and extending plays, that made the line look better than they actually played.

Agreed. But I am not sure that the Seahawks DL is great either. They have some LB injuries. L Williams is tough. Hankins is nothing special. Hopefully this week helped coordinate the Pats OL calls and communication. We will see. It could go either way but the OL will not be special. We need a LT which is not a news flash.

Michael Jordan respectfully declines your offer, and he took it personally.

And the OL exceeded expectations. LOL

Agreed. Lots of upside possible -
Yeah, not so much.

But if by some chance Strange returns healthy and strong midseason, if Layden Robinson isn't a mirage and can play well against better competition he has yet to face in a real game.... a longshot best case scenario offensive lineup could be:

LT - Sow
LG - Strange
C- Andrews
RG - Robinson
RT - Onwenu

Do I think this will happen, doubtful...

Strange may sit out this entire season. Can Sow play left tackle, possibly, he has the athletic talent... but maybe not. Robinson looked decent against the scrubs in Cincinnati, but might get blown up by real DT's like the 49ers and others have. Whether this plays out this way or not, having all of these ^ guys healthy would be a luxury by midseason. They would have an abundance of talented interior lineman anyway.

Again, while I recognize that there were several plays where JB, in particular, was somehow able to avoid disaster by making a play / getting rid of the ball - I STILL thought it would be worse. Haha. I cannot stress how little faith I had in this OL.

TEAM TO JORDAN
1) We will elevate you for the next three weeks. paying your full pay each week.
2) After the Practice Squad maximum of 3 weeks, we will sign you to a contract to be on the 53, including a signing bonus.
3) You end up being paid as much as if we had signed you to begin with.
4) The team gains a roster spot for 3 weeks which it needs for evaluating OT's. We now carry 5 OT's. We will make a decision in the next two weeks or free up a roster spot somewhere else.
==========
A WIN-WIN
We need a backup LG, especially one that can play center in an emergency (he isn't solid enough to be the regular backup center).
Let’s hope he accepts and it is a happy marriage.

Again, this needs it's own thread?
I will take mgteich's actual football-based question threads any day of the week. Some pass quickly, some spark a lot of discussion around the roster. Much better than rumor mill type discussion.

Agreed. Much better than threads that exist only to whine about some player showing emotion.
