The first one put us on the map...
The second one proved we were special...
Number three brought the gift of immortality...

The WAR for FOUR began in 2005...
But the officials made sure that attempt was denied...

So the war continues on in 2006...
One more title equals 4 out of 6

NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS
SUPER BOWL XXXVI, XXXVIII, & XXXIX CHAMPIONS

Considering how often I change my sig it's a good thing I don't start a new thread to announce my new sig.

19-0

The Pats will threaten the 72 Dolphins next year.

I would now like to direct everyone's attention to my super cool signature.

Finally I get the chance to ask... what is your avatar and signature dealing with?

That is Will Ferrell as the super villain "Mugatu" in the movie Zoolander. If you're a Ben Stiller fan, you need to see it.

So your official position is that it was the official's fault? I respectfully submit that you might want to reconsider how that makes you look.

The Asante Samuel pass interference call was a travesty of justice, I grant you, but bad calls happen all the time. The officials didn't make Fumbles Faulk run through the middle with the ball on one hand. The officials didn't make Ellis Hobbs do the same, and get clocked by a freaking punter. The officials didn't make Troy Brown muff a punt for the first time since the Battle of Hastings. The officials didn't make Tom Brady throw the ball behind Troy Brown so that Champ Bailey could intercept it.

We lost and it was our own damn fault. Stop whining, man. You sound like Peyton Manning.

That isn't a very popular stance to take around here. Maybe it is you that should reconsider.

Well, I watched the video anyway. That was the first time I watched the replay of Muff Brown. I don't see any possible way that can be called interference. He wasn't touched until the ball bounced off of his chest and was on it's way to the ground.

I believe he has until the ball then hits the ground before they can hit him.

I haven't seen it yet, but if that's what happened than yes, that's fair catch interference.

It's the same thing that happened in the SD/Pit game on MNF earlier in the year.

When a fair catch is called, it's supposed to protect the receiver all the way through the catch. If he bobbles the ball or if the ball bounces off him, he's still protected until the ball hits the ground. When I say he's still protected, I mean nobody is allowed to touch him or interfere with his efforts to regain control of the ball.

In Troy's case, the Denver defender made contact and tackled Brown immediately after he first bobbled it. The ball was still in the air. Out of all the blown calls, this was the one that had the most conclusive video evidence had it been challenged.

Unfortunately, the Patriots were already out of challenges b/c the officials made so many mistakes in this game.

The bottom line is that while it sounds nice to blame the loss on our own turnovers, it was in fact mistakes from the officials that paved the way to 24 (YES, TWENTY-FOUR!!!) Broncos points.

We can only hope that this loss pisses our players off as much as it does us. If nothing else, it should provide us with good karma for the next few years. Perhaps 2006 will be the year where we finally get rid of the injury bug and show the world exactly how dominant we can really be.

The thing that really bugs me is that the NFL hasn't even appologized or recognized how bad we got jobbed. NFL Total Access didn't even go over the muff play when they did their weekly review with of controvercial calls.

I don't know, I guess I have no complaints with that call. The ball hits him and it bounced off of his chest. He actually had to turn and take a step to even go after the ball. At that point, I see no reason why the defender wouldn't go after the ball. I guess if we're going to split hairs, we could split them over the tuck rule too. Sure, it's a rule, but maybe it was too close to overturn.

I've already gone through the 24 points with NEM. There are a whole lot of assumptions. The biggest of which is you are assuming that we were going to drive 80 yds. after Brady just got done throwing an enormous int in the endzone. I'm not going to say the refs were good, because they weren't but the fact is despite all of that, we still had more than one chance to take that game and we couldn't do it. To me, complaining about the refs makes us sound just like Raiders fans regardless of how you want to interpret the rules. I for one don't want to ever be compared to a Raiders fan.

I hear ya but the one big difference between us complaining now and Raiders fans then, we're actually right.

People may not like the call on the Tuck play but it was supported by a rule. The Patriots lost b/c of BLATANT MISTAKES.

There is a difference.

I'll get over it one day. But DAMN!!!!!! It's such a LONG offseason. Sunday is going to be torture. I don't think I'll be able to bear it.
Maybe I'll go to the movies instead. Anybody know of any good movies out?
