Re: My heart stopped !

Here's an article on the 'brady rule': NFL official helps Patriots tackle the new ?Brady Rule? - Boston.com

According to the article it's the 'lunge' at the knee that is penalized, not mere swiping at. Luckily for Brady, on that play, his leg was lifted off the ground. If it had remained planted, I think he would have been seriously injured. I think the league needs to look at this play closely and dole out fines if necessary. We can't be having star QBs knocked out for the season. I mean look at how miserable Indiania is without Peyton. Now imagine another 2-3 star QBs get knocked out, the league as a whole loses a lot of star power and ability to attract audiences.

Oh but that hit on Rivers, how in the WORLD was it a penalty? I didn't see any 'driving to the ground', that's how a clean tackle is supposed to be made!
I think he drove Rivers into the ground but that's not what the ref called. He called "hitting with the crown of his helmet". If that is what he called it was a bad call, imo.

No problem pao. We're used to refs making up rules to suit their penalties. I remember "face guarding" called on Ellis Hobbes III when he was down field of an untouchable Colt WR, a totally made up call that cost us the playoff game.

That was a disgusting cheap shot and even myself, as a Jets fan, was worried for his knee for a second.

It seems there were a few dirty plays from the Chargers. THat one. THe one on Hernandez? Was that clean? AT the time I remember thinking it was not. It seemed a helmet right to the knee. Or is that legal in general, just not in certain circumstances? (another stupid football question I know)

And that one play when a WR was signalling for TB to call a time out, the play went through, but the defender LEVELED the WR (who was not paying attention, but looking at Brady stilll trying to get the timeout). Legal, but dirty.

OK, it's Tuesday and there was no penalty, so maybe we need to wait for the Omissioner's office to act, but this is the only place I am seeing this discussed.

Brady's knee injury in 2008 was all over the web with celebratory threads being composed faster than we could read them, yet there is NOTHING out there on this cheap shot which almost ended Brady's season.

The silence is deafening.

Rothlisburger took a similar hit on the weekend, and the guy who hit him was fined.
