I thought I'd get some idea of what Pats' fans worst moments were the last 10 years (1996-present). I can't think of many that stand out before then b/c we were pretty bad when I was a kid and expectations were very low.
1997 AFC Divisional at Pitt - losing 7-6 is never fun, especially on ONE missed tackle IIRC.
2000 Thanksgiving at Det - we weren't a good team that year, but we never took it on the chin as bad as that day. Worst Thanksgiving EVER.
2002 SNF vs. Jets - NY was coming off an embarrassing loss at Chicago and we were primed to take the division w/ 2 straight home games. Just an awful performance in a clutch game.
2004 MNF at Miami - we lost a game we supposedly couldn't lose (12-1 vs. 2-11) in a way we supposedly could never lose (up by 11 w/ 4 min left) on a play we thought could never happen (ridiculous lob by Brady WITH A LEAD).
2005 MNF vs. Indy - we just couldn't stop Manning all night long, we had a High school D out there. Potential shootout thwarted by Dillon's fumble (who shouldn't have been playing anyway). 2-point attempt by Colts when up 19. An empty Gillette with 5 minutes to go. Kraft sitting alone in his box. The "beating the Pats in Foxboro: Priceless" commercial by ABC.
Explanation for noteworthy exceptions:
Denver (1/14/06)
Pittsburgh (10/31/04)
Buffalo (9/7/03)
Like the Pitt and Buffalo games helped the Pats pull together as a team to win the SB, I believe the Denver playoff game will do the same for future seasons. I have hope this can help give us added motivation in beating the Broncos too (3-15 since '83? Ugh) Plus, I think our chances of winning it all in the future would be considerably less if we had won it all in '05. Think about how our draft position allowed us to get Maroney and we got another explosive pick in Jackson - I believe the future is bright in NE.
