I thought I'd get some idea of what Pats' fans worst moments were the last 10 years (1996-present). I can't think of many that stand out before then b/c we were pretty bad when I was a kid and expectations were very low.

1997 AFC Divisional at Pitt - losing 7-6 is never fun, especially on ONE missed tackle IIRC.

2000 Thanksgiving at Det - we weren't a good team that year, but we never took it on the chin as bad as that day. Worst Thanksgiving EVER.

2002 SNF vs. Jets - NY was coming off an embarrassing loss at Chicago and we were primed to take the division w/ 2 straight home games. Just an awful performance in a clutch game.

2004 MNF at Miami - we lost a game we supposedly couldn't lose (12-1 vs. 2-11) in a way we supposedly could never lose (up by 11 w/ 4 min left) on a play we thought could never happen (ridiculous lob by Brady WITH A LEAD).

2005 MNF vs. Indy - we just couldn't stop Manning all night long, we had a High school D out there. Potential shootout thwarted by Dillon's fumble (who shouldn't have been playing anyway). 2-point attempt by Colts when up 19. An empty Gillette with 5 minutes to go. Kraft sitting alone in his box. The "beating the Pats in Foxboro: Priceless" commercial by ABC.

Explanation for noteworthy exceptions:

Denver (1/14/06)
Pittsburgh (10/31/04)
Buffalo (9/7/03)

Like the Pitt and Buffalo games helped the Pats pull together as a team to win the SB, I believe the Denver playoff game will do the same for future seasons. I have hope this can help give us added motivation in beating the Broncos too (3-15 since '83? Ugh) Plus, I think our chances of winning it all in the future would be considerably less if we had won it all in '05. Think about how our draft position allowed us to get Maroney and we got another explosive pick in Jackson - I believe the future is bright in NE.

Some more in chronological order.

1996 vs Denver. No need to explain any further.

1996 at Dallas. Close game. Defense played great but fell just short. Not that it made a difference in the standings but when you look at where the Pats were and where the Boys were, it would have been a great win.

1997 (?) vs TB. Utter humiliation

1997 vs Pitt on Saturday evening in December. Back and forth loss in OT. IIRC that was the difference in no bye that year. Did it cost us HFA vs Pitt?

1998 (?) vs Atlanta. See TB.

1999--each and every loss in the 2-6 end of the year stretch. A team that had been so dominant in the first eight weeks was that bad in the final eight.

2000 at Cleveland. Yech!

2001 at Denver, if for nothing else than how it played out in the end. Leading the whole game and then falling apart in the final quarter.

2002 at SD. I believe it was only two big plays, one pass and one run, that won the game.

2003 vs Washington. Coulda, woulda, shoulda.

2005 at Carolina. Played so poorly. Very disapointing.

Not a pats game but definitely related:

2002 Jets vs GB. A GB win and the Pats are in the playoffs. They roll over like dogs.

The last Denver game, the Bailey int. The Pats had dominated on the D. I felt if we convert their, the D would hold and the team would go on to win the game.

You don't get many shots at 3 straight SB's.

1996- Super Bowl XXXI-enough said.

1997 vs Pittsburgh where Drew throws a pic right to a freakin lineman.
1997 vs the Jets in New York. Just because it was the Jets and Parcells it made me sick.

1999 vs Kansas City where Vinatieri misses a game winner with time expiring. We were 4-0 trying to go to 5-0.

2003 vs Washington. I was there which made it hurt ten times more.

2004 vs Pittsburgh on Halloween. End of the 21 game winning streak.

The exact moment when that season went to sh!t.

I'm going with the GB loss the the freakin Jets who sucked that year. I would have rathered the Dolphins beat us and went to the playoffs that year. Such a great comeback ruined...
