Moss: "I don't think they going to extend my contract here"

Re: Moss:"I don't think they going to extend my contract here"

Because Moss is one of the faces of the franchise and him saying that the team doesn't pay will inevitably scare off players who are thinking not only about current contracts, but about future contracts as well. and in a general sense, how can negative words about the team from the Patriots' second best player not have a negative effect. It's like saying that Brady trying to convince FAs to come by saying good things doesn't have any positive effects.

I have no idea what the tangible effect will be. It was just stupid and unnecessary.

Moss is saying what everyone already knows / thinks... If Brady said the same thing you wouldn't care less. Take a chill pill Patjew.

Moss knows he is going to get paid more then the Pats are willing to spend on a 34 year old WR. Thats all he is saying...

Re: Moss:"I don't think they going to extend my contract here"

because none of that matters. He will be here and he will be playing hard for his next contract. What he said was a little harsh but I dont read it as him trying to blast out just someone who is resorted to one last year with his boy Tom and a place he at one point hoped he would finish at.

It wasn't "a little harsh". It was plain wrong and feeds into the media's (and maybe potential future Pats) misperception of how the Patriots operate.

Sorry. I don't see any possible way you could look at the bright side of this. Good on ya for trying, but I don't see how. If Braylon Edwards had come out and said this to the New York media about the Jets, we'd be criticizing him for throwing the team under the bus to the media and patting our team on their collective backs for the "Patriot way", which used to be never bad mouthing the team to the media, of all people. I guess that all goes out the window when it's Randy Moss that's leveling the quotes...

Bull****, how can everyone "know" something that is not true. what he's doing is feeding an untruth.

If Brady said the same thing you wouldn't care less.
That is not at all true. I'd be pissed no matter which current Pat said it.

Take a chill pill Patjew.
Find me one and I will.

Wrong, that is not all he is saying. He said alot of extra stuff that is completely wrong and was not needed. If that was "all" he said, I'd have no problem with it.

I dont think it is plain wrong because the Pats wether right or wrong clearly have tightened up the last few years preparing for the CBA negotiating and hopes of the owners winning back and getting player costs down.

They have spent to the cap each year which is all you can ask as a fan but the long term deals the players look for have been few and far between the last few years. Once the CBA is settled I think this practice will end. In the interim they have put as good a product as any so as a fan I am content. They will put out another good team this year and I think it is smart for them to keep Moss so because he is short money and because it is a contract year he will give a good effort.

So yes his comments are a little harsh with a twinge of truth and I wish he didn't say them but what are you gonna do.

Now who is spinning things? Please inform me how you know for a fact that Moss wasn't going to be re-signed next season?

What do you want him to say? I doubt i'll be with the Patriots because paying a 34 year old WR a large sum of cash isn't going to help them win a Championship, especially if one of those seasons does indeed become a lockout...

He says that he has respect for the Patriots orginization. I see no problem. He also says he expects Tom Brady to be resigned.

Like I said, man, I don't really know what's going on with his situation or his contract, but if you ask me personally I think that Tom Brady is going to be a New England Patriot,"

What do I expect him to say? Let's go with "nothing" for $500, Alex.

Well, clearly I'm going to freak out about this and argue with everyone!

OK, I'm getting riled up and should definitely take a break. This has been fun in an annoying kind of way.

Talking about spinning things? LMAO. I never said FOR A FACT. I said that people know / think they know this about the Patriots orginization. Moss didn't even say he knew for a fact, he just thinks he wont be back.

Re: Moss:"I don't think they going to extend my contract here"

Florio hates cheese, but he makes his own whine.

Epic fail. I haven't spun anything in this thread. I've only used Moss' exact words to make my point. But since we're going back and reviewing things, here is your last post...

And it's not just you. I've seen a couple of people say this already. The fact of the matter is that nobody KNOWS what is going to happen with Randy next year short of Marty McFly and Dr. Emmitt Brown, blasting away into 2011 in his DeLorean. What's more, people say this then still punt to Florio.

I've yet to see one person properly defend Moss making these comments to the media.

That's because it can't be done. The good soldier routine is over.

Re: Moss:"I don't think they going to extend my contract here"

If he is on the team this year, I say great since he would be essentially playing for a new contract with another team. Moss on a mission? Time will tell...

More Comments from Moss here More from Moss - Extra Points - Boston.com

this should put his comments into context as he talks about being part of this team this upcoming season.

Re: Moss:"I don't think they going to extend my contract here"

"Hey man, who knows what's going to happen in 2011? I'm going to do the best I can to help the team win in 2010, like I always do, and that other stuff will take care of itself. Get back to me in a year."

That's all he had to say. If he had to say anything. Which he didn't.

Felger will have a field day with this on Monday...

I also added /thinks.

I wouldn't take that back. Most people seem to think (outside of this board) that the Patriots wont' spend too much on top talent. For example, they got Brady at a discount price, and even got Moss at a discounted price. Moss knows he is an older player and likely wont be resigned by the Patriots.

Unfortunately, deserved or not the Patriots now have a reputation among players as being cheap and not willing to pay fair market value...not a good rep for a team hoping to sign impact free agents...

the question is...is it deserved?
