That is why this place is embarrassing. JE has been one of the hardest covers in the NFL and we have to read this garbage

Disgraceful

The last meaningful catch JE11 made was against Falcons in the Super Bowl.
Just like it took Wes almost a year to come back to form from his injury, it may take Julian some time.

can we see a couple of games with Edelman, Gronk and Gordon on the field together before we start jumping off the bridge

Why can't we have a receiver like Mike Evans or any receiver for that matter that can get separation ?

We basically do, Josh Gordon is athletically a Mike Evans equivalent. As for why we can't get one without massive addiction issues, physical specimens like him without enormous red flags are pretty much automatic top 10 picks, and picking in the top 10 is a luxury the Pats don't have. It would take the kind of godfather trade that the Falcons made to get Julio Jones, and I can't imagine any scenario where Belichick would make that trade.

I say that in part because Thomas Dimitroff allegedly consulted Belichick before making the trade up for Jones, and Belichick said he'd be better of staying put and drafting Jonathan Baldwin.

Wow. This makes me nostalgic for when we had an incredible offense.

Man, that 2011 offense was so fun, Gronk was an absolute freak of nature (he still kinda is, but at a minimum he plays way more conservatively). He was good for like two 'what the hell just happened, I've never seen that on a football field" plays per game. He had 281 yards and 5 touchdowns through 3 weeks that year.

You mean a talent that usually goes in the top 10 of the first round ? Mostly because we are to successful to ever have a chance to grab a player like him. It is either risk it and take the gifted player with injury history (worked out with Gronk, didn't with others) or settle for lesser talent that has less risk but also less upside.

When did the NFL allow guards to get in a stance and then jump up to look at the QB for the snap count? It seems like the Steelers were the first/only team to do this.

I didn't have the game on when I read this post, then went and watched it and I've got the same question. How was that guard "set" when the ball was snapped?

The guard would be standing, looking at Roethlisberger, then turn around, go into his stance, tap the center and the ball would be snapped immediately. Wouldn't this fall under the same umbrella as a receiver in motion who doesn't come to a full stop before the ball is snapped?

Two other questions:

How did the Tampa defense not time this up? As soon as the guard went into his stance, he tapped the center and the ball was snapped, every time. Someone on the defensive line should have been getting a jump based on that.

From the "We're always the victims" category: If Mason or Thuney were doing this, the rules experts on twitter would have been throwing a fit last night.

Can't wait for the day when tackling the QB at all is a penalty, you have to pull the flag off his waist.

Seems like things are going that way...

I love Edelman but the operative word in your post is "has" Coming off his injury will he be the same. I think so at least I hope so but we need to see him play a couple of games before we know for sure

Quite honestly I would prefer that solution to the travesty that we have right now. At least everything would be more black/white and we would not have so much room for a ref to interpret a tackle one way or the other.

Thats a good point about the D lineman timing this and trying to get a false start penalty. The Steelers have been doing that for years with their guards. What’s really bizarre is I saw their entire O line get in a stance, then all stand up to look at Big Ben. I was always under the impression when your line is set, you can’t stand up or turn around. It’s just been a pet peeve of mine and wondering if anyone could fill me in on why it’s allowed.

You always have to wonder who's going to show up, Fitzmagic, Fitzception or Fitzpicksix. This game we saw all three.
