Ooooh, like Richardson did! Right?

Sheldon wasn't under the influence at all. Heck he was coherent enough to try to avoid the cops by pulling in a driveway or something like that. Dumb? Sure.

But Floyd here... he literally has no idea what is happening, while operating what is at that point, like a 6,000lb weapon.

I have tons of questions. Did he drink on the team flight? Drinking on planes gets you trashed quicker due to the pressurization. You are drinking at about 10ish thousand feet pressure wise.

Also, did no one notice him drunk?

Well for one passenger cabins are pressurized albeit not to the same pressure as sea level. And two, If he chose to drink it was his choice.

Driving a 6000lb weapon at 140 mph is much more deadly than one stopped at a light. Right? I mean if we are going to play "who can vindicate the ass hole" game.

Speaking of weapons :

The latter (Richardson) suspension stemmed from a July 2015 arrest in which he was clocked at 143 mph while trying to elude police in suburban St. Louis. He wound up pleading guilty to resisting arrest.

Now everyone in the media will call for patriots to drop him...I don't understand why it takes a video to make things real for people

Especially since everyone knew what happened, including the part about him being passed out at the wheel. But everyone nowadays relies on TMZ and other "news outlets" and only read the headlines and maybe a blurb to get what they need. They won't cut him. It was already known.

Michael is in good hands now...

Are you actually serious?

Hey, maybe it's a regional thing. But there's no debate here at all in my mind.

Speeding is just that. Dumb and there are punishments for it.

Speeding at 80mph, 120, 180... all bad.

Doesn't come close to dui though. Like trying to compare Brady to Fitz.

Why do I find this hilarious?

I hope they don't waive him because of the video, stupid thing to do at anytime, but hopefully it is a learning experience.

Speeding at 143 is not the same as at 80 mph.

Speeding while fleeing the police at 143 with a kid in the car that smells like "burnt Marijuana" (DUI) is not the same as speeding at 80 mph.

wonder what his BAC was....and if a blood draw was done - specifically wondering if there were painkillers in his system as well (this is the NFL after all)

going to have to wade through a PR minefield at this point, but short term and long term from a football standpoint it is a solid move.....he COULD have some sort of impact this year, and it gives him a 'tryout' for signing next year.....the Pats just took a chance on him, his stock obviously plummets with a suspension looming and his reputation hurt.....could see a huge bounceback and incentive to sign a friendly deal with the Pats next year.....a one year prove it type contract in Foxboro also makes sense for both the organization and his career....assuming he bounces back personally; let's face it it could be a one time dumb decision (and yes it was incredibly dumb)......but purely looking at it from a football perspective, it could be a win-win

I'm not trying to make light of the situation when I say this...."hey it's a TMZ video so the NFL will deny it's existence"

one thing we've seen....BB removes emotion from football decisions

i know AH has tainted the image a little, in that "the patriots take chances on bad guys", but does Floyd have any negative history save for this one stupid decision?

****, just looked....DUI while at ND......but other things i see in his bio seem to be positive - working off his HS scholarship doing janitorial work, captain at ND

PR aside, this is a low to no risk move by the Pats.......the ball is in his court

Sorry man. I know you're a pretty reasonable guy and I usually agree with your opinion, but there is no comparison here imo.

Yes 143 is worse than 80. Just as 180 is worse than 143. But speeding on an empty highway at like 3am in Missouri doesn't come close to a DUI.

Any Jets who've had DUIs? Same goes for them. Especially if they were as incoherent as Floyd was here. That is easily a criminal offense.

He's pretty much ****ed. Goodell is licking his chops. THIS video AND he's a PATRIOT ? Guaranteed he won't see the field in 2017. What a friggen moron. Hopefully he learns the Patriot's way, wins a Super Bowl, and has enough money saved to get him through 2017.

I think the guy needs proper help, he clearly has a drink issue and needs to seek help more than prison time where it's harder not to be intoxicated, you might as well finish the guy right there sending him to prison. Alcoholism less not forget is an illness and Yes, alcoholism it makes you do stupid stuff.

I was talking about an ex pro footballer(soccer) on the previous thread.. Paul Gascoigne. He did this..

Gazza reveals he snorted 14 lines of coke before visiting Raoul Moat | Daily Mail Online

Reading the story it's actually quite funny, but it's also a reminder that your not in control of your actions when intoxicated.. whether it alcohol or drugs or in this case both.
