I never argued Bodden was better because of his INTs. It's people like you who (wrongly) believe that INT numbers are the only barometer of a CBs worth so I had to point out that Samuel had at MOST 4 INTs against "good" QBs, and that's ignoring any ducks or thrown to him passes which I don't really care to go find out as INTs are only one part of the story and I understand the types of CBs Samuel and Bodden are.
Unless you are actually a good cover corner, which Samuel is NOT.
Now it should be easy for you to list me 10-15 LCBs that allow at least as much if not more completions than Samuel... Or you can just continue to make up stuff.
That website lists how they played in 2009. It is surely at least a little flawed and their overall ranking numbers aren't gospel. I never once claimed their overall ranking numbers were a depiction of the best CBs in the league. They are a relatively accurate depiction of they played that year, and the peripheral numbers which I like to look at seem more or less accurate.
Asomugha is special in the sense that teams just won't throw to his side, they just won't.
This is not what I've done though, as much as you want to portray that. I've said Samuel was overrated while he was here. He is not a top 5 CB, never has been and never will be. Hobbs outplayed Samuel frequently while they both were here.
Moss IS the best WR in the NFL still (at worst top 3). Never said "by far" in either case. Bodden was a better CB in 2009 than Samuel. I prefer Bodden's abilities over Samuel's. Bodden can actually cover and be effective allowing more schemes. Samuel is a risk taker zone hawk that limits the schemes that can be played on his side and usually requires safety help dedicated to cover for the high risk.
I assume you've forgotten guys like Marvin Harrison catching wide open bombs for a TD because Samuel jumped the fake and only remember when Samuel INTs because he jumped the route. Apparently since Samuel was so far out of the picture, it wasn't his fault. Just like the Tyree catch, his man but he's not in the picture when it's caught so you assume it wasn't his coverage responsibility.
I've only insulted someone once or twice of which was retaliation and have since apologized. Stop stalking me though, thanks.
When did I ever say INT are the barometer of CBs? They aren't. In fact, guys like Revis and Nnamdi tend to have lower INT numbers because people don't like to throw at them. The only reason I brought up INT is b/c I'm sick and tired of hearing you say over and over how Samuel's INT came from bad QBs. So what? So did most of Bodden's. The fact is Samuel had 9 in total and Bodden had 5 in total, so if you want to look at INT, then Samuel outperformed him.
There you go again putting words in my mouth. Never did I say you claimed that website was a depiction of the best CBs in the league. However, earlier in the thread you said the following regarding CBs who you would rather have than Samuel (after the likes of Revis, Asomugha, Bailey):
Hall, Flowers, Winfield, Greer, DRC, Joseph, Brown, Bodden...
He's not even the best CB on his team, never mind sniffing the top 5.
Let's see: Hall, Flowers, Winfield, Greer, DRC, Joseph are all ranked #3, #5, #9, #7, #4, and #6 respectively on that website. Seems likes someone just took a few a names from the top of that list and claimed they were better than Samuel. Why didn't you mention a guy like Jammer who is a great press corner and great in run support? Because he's not at the top of that list? I highly doubt you've watched all of these guys enough to be able to definitively state that they are/aren't better than Samuel. That site is flawed because there is not a chance Leon Hall is the 3rd best CB in the league. Watch him play before claiming you'd rather have him than Samuel.
If Hobbs outperformed Samuel frequently when he was here, why was he dealt for a 5th round pick? Surely you should attempt to lock up and keep a CB who has outplayed Samuel (a Pro Bowler) longterm. Or at the least you could get a 2nd round pick for someone of that caliber. Also, why was he behind Samuel on the depth chart in Philly? If he was better than Samuel, he'd be starting ahead of him and wouldn't be relegated to nickel and dime back duties.
Moss is not THE best WR in the league. He is still top 5, but he is not THE best like you claim he is. How was Bodden a better CB than Samuel in 09? What are you basing that off of? I assume you are basing it off of the stats from that website, unless you've watched all of the Eagles games and all of the Patriots games, which I highly doubt. Bodden had a solid season in 09, but I would take Asante over him anyday. Samuel is also a 3x Pro Bowler (including 09). Bodden has never been to one. What does that possibly say about their play in 09? And don't blame it on the fans, as the players and coaches account for 2/3 of the vote.
Asante limits defensive schemes? He is only a zone hawk? He isn't a good cover corner? Really? Then why would the Eagles sign him? Jim Johnson was known for blitzing schemes and often left his CB's in man to man coverage on islands. If you watch the Eagles play, they still often line up in man to man coverage and don't give their corners a ton of safety help. Why would they sign Asante if he could not play in this type of defense? In his 2 seasons in Philly, he has made the Pro Bowl twice.
He might not be that good of a press corner, but he hasn't limited the Eagles defensive scheme where they have to play zone on his side of the field. One of the biggest myths is that Asante only excels zone because of his ball hawking ability. He may not be that physical at the LOS with his WR, giving him an easier release, but he is a good cover corner who can stay with his man well. The only vice he has besides his reluctance to play press coverage is that he is an aggressive corner who likes to gamble and jump routes so you can get him on some double moves. I don't know about you, but I like an aggressive corner who is confident and wants be a playmaker in the secondary. You can keep telling yourself that Bodden is better and schemes are limited with Samuel, but it's not true.
