I have not been able to watch much of the pre-season but I have seen him get toasted a few times. It seems out off character for him and I have to believe that he had a great offseason but he looks rusty.

He's had more bad plays than usual, but it's more of a consistency thing than a talent thing. He's not in midseason form yet, but the tools are all still there.

This is what happens when we have lockouts I guess.

Either way, it's going to be very hard to mimic what he did in his rookie year. McCourty will be okay, he just has to get back to form.

Just like the vast majority of his teammates, McCourty has had two good games and one not so good game.

He looked pretty awful at times against Detroit but it's not for lack of ability.

On one play he was beat but recovered nicely but then lost the ball. A few other times he definitely got burned. But on some other plays, he looked out of it but closed the gap incredibly quickly and made a play, reminiscent of last season.

Like sciz said, it's a lack of consistency, but remember he was absolutely atrocious in the 3rd preseason game last season as well. It's just one bad game where pretty much nobody played well.

He's one that I don't worry about at all. This kid is going to be a stud in this league. He was a rookie pro bowler, he's not going to regress...only get better!

Looked brutal last game, especially against Burleson... that one play in the end zone on the first drive should've been a TD for sure but Burleson couldn't grab the pass.

McCourty did, however, regroup nicely on the same play, as Burleson had another shot to bring the ball in after he initially bobbled it around... but McCourty was textbook in the way he put his hand through Burleson's to make sure he couldn't as they were going to the ground.

So yeah, like others have said... some good, some bad... and of course the bad is going to be brought to light more than the good.

Just another terrible draft pick by Bill Belichick!! If our organization only had a coach/gm like we used to have. We'd be golden. Boy, I miss the good ol days.

In the TC practices that I attended he didn't seem to go at full speed and it was the same in the preseason game against the Lions. I guess it could be over-confidence, and probably lacking sense of urgency that he had last year when he tried to cover Moss during practices.
