Mayo/Drake Is Starting A How Many Year Rebuild?

depends on how good Maye and the receivers we drafted are. If they are no good well back to the doldrums. if they are legit, well you already have a solid defense

All this crap about "be patient while we rebuild because we have a multiyear plan" is giving me heartburn. None of it accounts for injuries, retirements, contract impasses/free agency losses, firings and attrition in key front office staff. Hell, who knows what will happen when Bob Kraft hands things over to Jonathan sooner than later.

Other than holding your water for a promising rookie QB to develop, any team that doesn't put EVERYTHING into WINNING NOW is chasing a mirage. That is why I questioned the hiring of a very green Mayo, his staff of leftover assistants and signing a worthless jag like Brissett. With Vrabel bringing with him a proven, readymade staff or going all-in for someone like Jim Harbaugh, this year's team could've hit the ground running. Instead, we're talking about (barf) "four-year plans."

Don't get me wrong: as a willing season ticket holder, I am HEAVILY invested in Mayo and Wolf doing well, want them to succeed and realize it will take time. I am not cynical or fatalistic about the course Kraft has set for this franchise, but my skepticism draws from the belief that better options were passed over.

Looking around the division, this Patriots team will be able to contend if the offensive line comes together.
That’s funny.

Can I have your season ticket when the Jets come to town? You won’t want to see the beat down Aaron Rodgers and his VASTLY improved OL is going to give us.

We’re in year one of a three year rebuild. Better let Maye sit this year. Let Jacoby run the show. And pray someone works out at LT.

Calvin, is that you?

With a fairly tough schedule for this year, any improvement over 4-13 may be incremental. If things work out on the rebuild, I look for a winning record in year 3 and a playoff contender the following year.

Everything hinges on Maye.

Its a scoring league and we just lived through what life is like without an NFL caliber QB in Corky.

I am not a Brisket fan. Old and dry. He was a Parcells find in Florida. A year of Brisket sets you back 1 year of righting the ship while the defense gets older. Mayo will get all the years that he wants as long as Boss Kraft is running the show.

The sooner Maye faces NFL pass rushes, NFL DBs and NFL defenses the faster we know if the Pats can even rebuild. The Jets and Bears have been rebuilding for decades.

Yeah, maybe I'll go apple picking that day. But we'll see if he's not in the infirmary by then.

No regime gets 4 years to complete a rebuild anymore. I expect by the end of 2025 we are pushing for a playoff spot, and that by 2026 we're in.
This ^

I don’t know what sport these people think they’re watching but nobody has the patience to wait 3-4 years. Especially not when an NFL team can flip their entire roster in one or two.

Also this isn’t a “rebuild,” which implies rock bottom and a total lack of talent and resources to fix it. Outside of the Bears maybe, no front office/coaching staff inherited a better situation.

The collaboration station had one phase to fix… offense.

They had the third overall pick, 8 total picks at the top of the round, the third most cap space in the NFL to start the offseason and currently the most after bringing back all their own priority free agents.

Why would they need years to fix one phase?

Question to me is whether there is a big drop off in coaching.
I'm hoping Mayo attends a "Clock Management Seminar for Neophytes" at some point this offseason when he finally takes a break from playing slap **** with the media.....and not posing for murals

A team that is expected to have a winning record is, by definition, a playoff contender.
