I think you're reading it a bit too literally. It's not set in stone, but it serves no one to say, "Jacoby is the starter for now but he's just a placeholder." It's setting the tone that Jacoby is the guy, so everyone else follow his lead. If he doesn't play well, or the team is 0-4 and Maye continues to pop, they'll make the switch. Saying "for the season" is coach speak. We need to stop looking for the juiciest interpretation of everything everybody says. I guarantee you the locker room is fine with this decision.
