In the nick of time too with Pitts run Dand bad weather approaching.

Q. Hey Mike, what is the deal with Fred Taylor? He's been out for over two months with a toe injury. Let's have a sanity check here: Even if he completely broke it, wouldn't he be working his way back by now, and if it was really that severe of a toe injury, wouldn't we have seen him on crutches or in a boot? -- Paul (Hoboken, N.J.)

A. Paul, I think Taylor's toe injury is a balance issue. Bill Belichick previously said that Taylor had some initial struggles. I thought he'd be back by now. Just a hunch, but I wouldn't be surprised if we see him this week.

Honestly, Mike has been saying that every week for the past month. I'll be happy if fred taylor ever takes the field again.

Logic dictates if it was bad enough of a injury, he would of been put on IR. Just a thought, maybe he wasn't being rushed back so he can be productive during the last half of the season.

He had hurt the same foot/toe early this season and came back and played and re-injured it. So I think they are just giving him as much time as he wants right now to make sure its completely healed.
I hope hes back this week.

Need Fred for this next stretch of games. Have to have a back that can punish the opposing DL. Nothjing finess, just pound at them between the tackles to wear them down. It will make BJGE and Woody more effective.

Fred probably won't be back next season given his injury history. No sense paying a RB a full season's salary for half a season's work.....

Time for some young blood to get integrated into the stable of RB's next year.

they were disucssing the injury in the 98.5 sports hub a few days back. Looks like it is a very tough injury to deal and apparently it had ended careers. by all means, it looks like Fred's last year with us but I do hope he goes out with a bang

I think this would be a tough game to bring him back for. Don't see us having much success on the ground with or without him against Pittsburgh. If he's ready to go I'd say let BJGE start and if we are still in it midway start testing Freddy. IMO it's more important he is there for Indy, he is a Colt killer historically and that's a game our rushing attack is crucial.

I don't think we will have much success running the ball against Pittsburgh anyway, but it would be very nice to have him vs. Indy, who is vulnerable to inside north-south runners.

After that loss last week it is all hands on deck. I will be shocked if he doesn't play.

"This needle will only hurt a bit and then you won't feel a thing... until tomorrow that is"

I think it cut Jack Lamberts career short

While I think that Woodhead would be the best option at RB with the type of defense that Pittsburgh runs, Taylor coming back this week would also be a godsend. Of course, he would probably come back and leave after two carries in the second quarter with a shoulder injury.

My guess is that Taylor doesn't have much left (ditto for Morris). I wouldn't be giving him the heavy lifting against PITT. One more injury and its retirement time. I don't want to go into another playoffs without running backs.

Taylor says he's closer but not necessarily this week...

Turns out his injury was actually injuries... He had two turf toes on opposite feet. One from the Cincy game and the other from Buffalo. Thought he might need surgery but after getting multiple opinions opted not to. Don't hold your breath.

Seriously do you not remember Holt's fingers? He CATCHES(caught) with those nasty things, how hard is it to get some duct tape, tape your hurt toe to the adjacent toe(s) and then run. Favre's body is 98% duct tape and he's still playing! Maybe to the detrement of his team, but he's at least trying!
For god's sake Welker blew out his knee in week 17 and was back starting in week 1!
KNEE>>>>>TOE!

Best chance to see Taylor this week is to bring a camera with you and sneak into the training room by the hot/cold tubs.

Whatever you do, don't look up turf toe in google. There's always the danger you might end up knowing what you're talking about.

Hey--he's at practice today! Chung too! Of course, Brady is not....

FYI- turf toe is not really a toe injury, it is an injury to the joint at the back of the big toe, or "the ball of your foot" so it's not like a jammed finger or something where a bad toe can be immobilized by taping it to its neighbor.
