Marty's interview is worth it's own thread.

Marty got caught up in the moment with that comment about going into FA as a Super Bowl Winner....

I think he might stay cuz he has a company outside of football and being in the limelight with the Patriots will allow him to grow that company.

Go to a lesser team and never be heard of again, or stay with the Pats for less $ and get more attention on your company "The Imagination Agency"

Wonder if the Colts let Jack Doyle loose - I like what I saw of him in a few games this year but in that Colts offense he wasn't seeing enough to really know how decent he is

Need to go get another tight end
Need to start scouting rookie tight ends.
Any ideas out there?
My guess Bennett is a Niner Raider or Brown
They are paying everybody

TE David Njoku imo

Bennett is gone.
Multiple times he's talked about money.
No way Patriots match the best offer he gets.
I don't even see paying him more than 6m -- rather spend that money on defense as the offense next year will be loaded with or without Bennett

Tough call if hes content with one ring and needs the money hes gone. Its hard not to look at this team and the AFC being pretty soft next year and not think you can get back here. Thats awfully toughh to pass up but some certainly will...

If dude talks about the $ he is going to make as a SB champion on live TV when celebrating the greatest comeback in SB history, he certainly is sure of it.

And of course the national media picks it up and runs with it: Martellus Bennett: They 'overpay' Super Bowl champs

I watched the interview and it really wasn't wise of him to say it. Everyone knows someone's gonna throw too much money at him, and it's not going to be the Pats. He should just shut up and let it happen, but he was hanging with his brother and Deon and a bunch of other high powered jocks, and he didn't have the right amount of self control. Now if he does get that kind of contract, he's going to walk in being the over paid prima donna. That alone can cause teams to offer less than if had kept his mouth shut. But Marty's gonna be Marty...

And the political thing is a bad move too, it might make some red state and/or more politically sensitive teams shy away from him.

It's kind of a shame since Marty was on-message for most of the interview.

As a much better example, Chris Long is on a one-year prove-it contract and didn't mention a new contract or any political stuff either. Pretty cool he was able to be in an interview with his dad too.

Longs not in Line for a big pay day slightly over minimum for him.
Bennett is getting at least top 5 TE money.
Could be us but I doubt it.
What is Brandon Pettigrew up to.

I agree with alot of you that marty is gone. Its clear he is looking for the big paycheck and good for him. Would be nice to keep him but we have the greatest TE of all time coming back next year, we'll be ok.

So now we go back to Scott Chandler a year removed from his ailment??
