Hey, has anyone made a Wrath of Kahn joke yet? Cuz I was thinking about doing that.

ok. a better outside CB than Ryan. He's a good inside slot cornerback. We were lucky both him and Butler stayed injury free all season.

I haven't seen a ton of evidence that Ryan is better in the slot. To me it seems like whether he's inside or outside, it's a consistency/streakiness issue. He was killing it most of last year but I worry that'll end up an outlier. Also, you're definitely right about the last thing; there's absolutely no reliable depth behind him in case of injury. Roberts could pan out, but the only legitimate corner behind Butler and Ryan on the roster is Coleman and he seems like a nickel-only guy. Hope I'm wrong though.

Coleman is a nickel. Ryan is an outside player, who has NOT done well in the slot. Roberts could be our first player to spend his rookie year on IR, and then be a major contributor. Firsts do happen.

IMHO, we have terrible depth at corner. We are counting on ALL our starters repeating their good years. Also, Butler and Ryan are free agents in 2017.

starters: Butler, Ryan, Coleman (nickel)
backups: Roberts, Biggers, Melvin, Vereen

Wiener Schnitzel is not a german dish. Therefore disagree. Simple as that

That is a matter of dispute. The "science" is not settled here. Do you really think that only the Italians came up with breading and frying things?

Yeah, even the best European leagues are basically JUCO level at best. You're basically taking a huge flier on potential from measurables and grainy footage. But, hey, it worked in the NBA for the Bucks drafting Giannis Antetokounmpo out of the third Greek league or whatever based on grainy footage of him playing against guys who looked like they belonged at the Y.

HUGE FLIER, it is not my friend. At least not on the basis you state.

he probably NEVER played in a German League. He played (and most likely learned) at a U.S. Div I school, NC St. (Patriots.com excerpt below).

Yes, same like Vollmer he may be behind guys his same age in technique and knowledge, but if he has genetic talent and willingness to work/learn; he could have the potential to stick. And 4 years of NFL footage while he was on a team that holds JOINT PRACTICES FOR A WEEK each year with the Pats, i would think means BB and the scouts decided on more than the basis of "grainy footage".

I have no clue about his talent level, but i can take those 3 FACTs (nc St, nyg, 4-yr pro) and say your scepticism is all wet.

Kuhn, 29, is a veteran of four NFL seasons with the New York Giants. The 6-foot-4, 303-pounder, originally entered the NFL as a seventh-round draft pick (239th overall) of the Giants out of North Carolina State in the 2012 NFL Draft.

The quoted comment is about Moritz Boehringer, not Kuhn.

Ooops, my mistake. This thread is a bit convoluted in such a short span (50 Posts) some folks talking cbs and others OL, others Germans and still others food. I lost track.

I guess Markus Kuhn just isn't and interesting signing.

Just based on its name "Wiener" (as in Viennese) Schnitzel it is kinda implied that it is Austrian not German.

It's the Austrian national dish.

So historically speaking: were Austria and Germany always separate states?

So historically speaking: were Austria and Germany always separate states?

Not really, except for a confusing, short period following WW1 and more notably when Nazi Germany "took over" Austria in 1938. I put it into quotes because while historically the country is counted as a victim of Nazi Germany, the "Anschluss" (name of the event when Germany annexed the country) was actually welcomed by a lot of people. But I don't wanna go deeper on that there is enough material on the web and libraries.

The Austria-Hungary monarchy (and its predecessors) was actually pretty damn huge and a major player in Europe before WW1 started.

In any case.. the spoken language in Austria is essentially 99% German.

schnitzel is the actual breaded meat fried, no?

I put on my Kuhnskin hat and it compelled the question: when I order Jagerschnitzel, am I ordering Jagerschnitzel or JagerWienerSchnitzel?

or even HolsteinerSchnitzel as prepared by TipTop Meats in Carlsbad....or is it holsteinerWeinerSchnitzel
