Marcus Cannon extension

He will get a test the next couple of weeks. Let's see how he hold's up.
He's already shown to hold up all year against some very good pass rushers. He's a good talent who is finally healthy and receiving great coaching. Even if he struggles against Miller/Ware, it's a good re-signing.

We'll leave it to you to complain in the gamethread if he struggles at all going forward, though.

So you're saying we won't be able to keep Vollmer as a 3rd tackle on the cheap?

I'd love for him to come back. My understanding is that his hip & shoulder issues are chronic and retirement is a real possibility with him.

Lol. Where did i say it wasn't a good signing? I am sure he will have his struggles. I said he was gonna be tested the next couple of weeks.

Cannon gets 19.8 million in cash first 3 years per reiss.

Well deserved. What a turn around this guy has made since that nightmare in Denver last January. Keep it up Marcus you proved a lot of us wrong this season including doubters like myself.

Obviously the foot injury hurt him more then people thought last year and based on his play this year this is a no brainer extention for fairly reasonable money. When I saw the headline I said 5 mil a year for a starter is fair. Depending on how it is structured etc 6 isn't ridiculous. I don't know the exact terms of Vollmers deal but IIRC it was similar so clearly Cannon has taken Vollmers spot in more ways then one. With as much as the patriots throw and with a nearly 40 year old QB I am completely fine with them investing money on worthy bookends. Next year I expect to see Solder extended for 3-4 years at 8 per. Either way I like this signing and hope to see High, Marty, or Butler next.

Cannon reloaded!!!!

BOOM!!!

Nice move. Hoping Scarnecchia sticks around too.

Cannon has come a long way. Definitely has the mental toughness after his ups and downs.

This contract may turn out to be a hell of a bargain if he keeps playing at a pro bowl level.

$32.5m is #4 at RT in total value.

$14.5m guaranteed is #3 for RT.

Marcus Cannon is being paid as a Top 5 RT in all of football.

Hes playing very well but Top 3 or 4??

Seems like an overpay but if TB12's uni stays clean then so be it.

Right Tackle Contracts and Salaries | Over The Cap

Thing is, 2-3 years into this contract with the cap continuing to go up and with a lot of teams needing OL the total value and guaranteed money won't be #3 and #4.

Until seeing details it's hard to say if that's a $6.5mm a year deal or if it's backloaded.
Looks like there was an earlier post which stated $19.8m was paid out in the 1st 3 years.

Was just looking at the OT '17 FA Market. Pretty f**cking dire if you ask me. I too would pay even if it's considered a slight overpay at the moment than to dip my toes into that market.
