Map: Most Hated NFL Teams in Each State

Why are the Steelers most hated in Arizona and New Mexico? Also, don't quite understand 49ers most hated in Iowa and Nebraska unless it's part of the Rams fan base.

Vikings and Titans seem to be hated by their own fans.

Everything else on the map makes sense.

AZ and NM would be fans of the Arizona Cardinals. Though a division rival would normally be the first choice for a most hated team, apparently their first thought was the opponent in Super Bowl 43. Looked like the Cardinals had rallied to win the game on the long TD to Larry Fitzgerald with about two minutes to play, then Pittsburgh drove the length of the field to win it on the short pass from Roethlisberger to Santonio Holmes.

Nebraska I can understand being part of the Rams fan base, but I had always thought that Iowa was Vikings territory.

It's hard to tell, but it almost looks like Long Island hates the Jets too.

It's sad that our beloved team isn't given more of an accolade, though, as Rodney rightly says, it's only got itself to blame.

Still, I doubt that any team has a more distinguished collection of jerks and numskulls rooting for its downfall:

There are some odd aspects to this thing as well. Why would North Dakota and South Dakota, which border Minnesota, hate the Vikings? Why would Iowans hate the 49ers?

Re: Dakotas - yeah, there are a lot of Packer fans out here. We have 2 sports radio stations here in Sioux Falls - one broadcasts Vikings games, one broadcasts Packers games.

Also there are a lot of Broncos fans in the western half of the state(s).

I'm guessing the Packers fans + Broncos fans concentrate their hate on the Vikings, while Vikings fans hate a lot of other teams more equitably.

Borges was on Sports Sunday last night and he was in fine form. Essentially, everyone else in the media was stupider than him and anointed BB a genius back when he won 3 SBs with PETE CARROL's players and now their invested in covering up their mistake since he HASN'T WON IN 10 YEARS! I hate the Raiders. In fact, they're the only NFL team I HATE (I despise the Jets -- that's different). Perhaps now that Al Davis is no longer there it will change. But Darryl Stingley ...
