Well, now that his name has been brought up. I guess until he issues a statement saying that he has no interest in the HC job at the Jest, we have to think that he is.

Other way round.

As with Herm himself, denial denotes interest.

Eric isn't going anywhere anytime soon. He knows he's the heir apparent here if he wants to wait out BB, and he knows this teams performance and profile will keep his name at the forefront over the next few seasons, so when if he wants to go he can pick an ideal situation. That's what Saban did - waited for a real good situation in which to succeed before forging into the NFL HC ranks.

Totally agree. He knows he's on the whole league's radar, and he knows that the Jets job comes with unrealistic expectations and QB/salary cap hell. Plus I'll bet that this year was a big adjustment and another year or two in a leadership role will prepare him better for success. If I'm Eric, I sit this one out.

Don't be surprised if 27-year-old Josh McDaniels is named the HC of Buffalo next season .

BTW ... Josh is from Canton, Ohio.

I had the same exact thought:

If Mangini goes to Jets all that will be needed then is for Pats asst. coach Josh McDaniels to end up as Bill's head coach to make the AFC East the Belichick Tree Division.

That would be happening a lot too fast. The Walsh tree took years to grow out. His successor in SF (George Seifert) even left SF without a job. Maybe nobody wanted him. He never was a favorite of mine. I like what Washington has done and that's to guarantee ass't coach Gregg Williams a million dollar payout if the Redskins hire a new coach when Gibbs hangs it up that's not him (Williams). Maybe Mangini doesn't warrant that, but I don't think the Pats want to lose him on the heels of Crennel and Weiss. I also think it is a distraction for Mangini to be interviewing this week. Let him have the chance to improve his lot, but it can't wait four weeks, or whenever the SB XL trophy is in Bill's/Tom's hands?
