Malcolm Butler Mega Thread

Sucks to admit, but i have been talking about Brady and his Binky Addiction problem for years and years. There is more proof of it. He needed to tuck it and take the sack, as the play he wanted, wasn't there.

I dont think the binkie addiction is as much of a problem as him purposefully ignoring open players.

We have seen plays all year where someone is open and Brady throws it somewhere else. People ***** about it but I usually dont because you can't expect a QB to be exactly on the player who breaks open when he makes his progressions. Sometimes it doesn't work out.

However, in this case he KNEW PRESNAP based on the zone coverage that he had White in the flat. He knew it and yet never looked there but wanted Gronk all the way. There is no timing element or progression element to this only him forcing himself to wait for a route he thought would be open over one that he KNEW would be there.

That sucks..

Butler had ONE SNAP all game. He was on the Wing on the Punt Coverage unit..

That's a player who has been demoted from the starting line-up for whatever reason.

The rumors are starting to pile up. I don't know what, if any are true, but there are now Two Ex-Patriots who have come out mentioning things. They have somewhat corroborated the RobotDave Tweets that we saw..

- Missing Team flight to MN
- Cleaning out his locker at Gillette after team left
- dogging it in practice when he finally did get to MN.
- partying late and missing curfew.
- Caught smoking weed during Room Check.
- Missing Saturday's team meeting. (BTW, BB benched Adalius Thomas for the same thing. Thomas still dressed, but spent the entire game on the sidelines).
- Arguing with coaches on Saturday.

I don't know what is true. Only Butler and the Coaches do. But if he missed Saturday's Team meeting, then that's on him. Especially since it's been a standing rule of BB's.
If that's true he had to bench him regardless of what us fan boys wanted.

Nobody cares how Butler performed in practice. We don't get trophies for Super Great Practices. What people care about is that in the actual Super Bowl itself, the defense was dying and Bill held out his most talented corner available, on purpose.

Did you just start following the Patriots in the last month or so? Seriously. BB has ALWAYS cared about how you practice.. ALWAYS..

BTW, funny how you skipped over everything else.. Especially the part where Butler may have missed Saturday's team meeting...

I’m convinced that that is what happened. I can’t prove it but ex team mates can be considered an authority on this situation. The thing they are saying is weed and women in the hotel. If that don’t get you benched then there’s no rules
then why let him dress and play a snap on ST?

Zo added that after the rick ross concert, and subsequent missed curfew, that there was an altercation with a coach at the door of his hotel room.

Well, there you go. This was also reported the other day as him blowing up at coaches.

Malcolm made his own bed here. Anyone blaming BB for a 28 year old's actions and selfish behavior, is not a Pats fan.

Butler did this to himself.

Unless he straight up murdered someone, there is no excuse for holding him out while the defense and our season collapsed at Bill's feet. Bill punished the whole team, the city, the owners, the fans and his legacy for a trivial reason.

Congrats you have produced the most stupid take in the entire thread. I present you the "I don't care, I can't stand it" award.

Wow..

x2. He's a football coach, not a hall monitor. His job is to do everything possible to win a Super Bowl, and he always has until now, but he certainly didn't last night.

WOW.. No wonder you're having issues.. You think that Belichick is JUST a Football coach.. SMH.. Belichick is the one who runs everything for the Patriots.. He's not JUST a football coach..

He was at the bottom of the roster at Michigan and ascended to the starting position because he beat out the other seven quarterbacks, subsequently winning 84% of his games. He completed something like 65% of his passes. There's no indication he'd have been unsuccessful wherever he ended up; he's never had a losing season like Bill has. And what team in the NFL doesn't follow a "best person plays" doctrine (besides us in this latest Super Bowl)?
Plenty of teams. Like I said, there's a reason why agents for UDFAs and low-end free agents consistently tell their clients to go to NE over other teams. They know that if their client is better than some 2nd-round pick their client will see the field. That's not a given elsewhere.

If this were true, it doesn’t make sense he’d be a last minute benching. Would have been inactive.

Not when you don't have another CB to put there since you're short Jonathan Jones already..

I gotta say on some level it is fun watching those entitled assholes who pretend to be football fans squirm from left to right because they think BB stole a SB from them. As if they were owed anything. Watching them continue to whine has really softened the blow of losing the game. That being said I can't wait until those fantasy football level "fans" get over it and leave the board because the amount of garbage written by them is astounding.

BB send his message and the iggles dropped 41 on his defense. Funny thing's that they did nothing to try and create some pressure. Not one blitz. Nothing. Nick Foles beat his defense.

Clearly you weren't paying attention because the Pats DID blitz several times.. Chung and Roberts each had one that I can remember off the top of my head..

Foles spreads it around, plays no favorites and outperforms Brady, basically.

I can see if he had limited weaponry, but that's not true. He has all kinds of weapons. Where was Burkhead? Why not stretch one out to Dorsett or Allen into the flat? I see Allen wide open in the flat on numerous replays. I don't know. It's not why we lost, but his "Brady Lock", can creep up on him.

The entire 60 mins counts, and I am getting a little sick and tired of Brady and the offense coming out so sluggish in these 1st halves of Super Bowls. Been going on for years.

Basically, we have Jon Kasay to thank for SB 38, but we have no one to thank on Philly for this lack of a win.

Brady screwed this up. But to get on Brady for not protecting the ball, throwing it away, or taking the sack? When he does this more than any QB in football? He is usually very protective of the ball.

Howe reporting Butler told right before kickoff he would not play and that he was not given a reason. ?????

Wow..

Oh, my God! Thank you, thank you! I don't even have a speech prepared! But, I must decline this award, because since you're sincerely arguing that Bill was justified in throwing the Super Bowl because a superior player had a bad practice and was therefore disqualified from attempting to save our historically bad and humiliating defensive performance, you are the more deserving recipient. Can we make a banner for this honor and hang it next to our Super Great Practice one?

That must be Belichick’s fault,

Oh so they were worried that one of their players was doing something that is considered legal in the state they play in, that litera

Have fun being an honorable loser. Nobody on Earth would have cared if a story broke that a Patriots player smoked weed the night before the Super Bowl.

Actually, the League would care and they could order drug testing for everyone on the team. They could then suspend those who were already a part of the League's Drug Program.

What kind of public image nightmare would THAT be for the Pats? You don't think that KRAFT doesn't care about that? You don't think that BB doesn't care about that? You have to be pretty stupid to think that neither doesn't care..

Foles had 375 yds and 3 TDs vs the #1 D in the NFL.

This D allowed 42 points to a similar offense Week 1.

To say Foles does not have talent when 3 years ago he had the greatest passer rating of all time demonstrates how uninformed you are.

Your post is myopic and emotional.

You have no credibility. Stop changing the goal posts. You first made a crazy claim that benching Butler before kickoff, informing the secondary minutes to game start, caused no confusion on the defense. Then started brown nosing Foles. You make zero sense.

Stop making strawman arguments and start making sense. Saying nobody cares about practices especially on this team is among the most ignorant statements you can make. Just watch DYJ 1 or 2 and see what players, coaches and team officials say about how important practices are and then reconsider what you said.
