Just ran these. He's actually a little better than he was last season. Not fantastic, but fewer turnovers:

Sooooo, Patricia isn't any worse than Josh if Mac has improved.

I can't believe I typed the words, "Mac has improved".

Or Mac isn't as good as he could/should be ... which I'm sure is also rolling some eyes.

As usual in life, it's most likely a little of both.

Coaching and Mac both are a disappointment.

I am too lazy to go back and look at the opponents of the 5 game stretch last year. But this 5 game stretch has included terrible D's like the Cards, Raiders, and Vikes. That might account for the improvement too.

No worries, here they are.

Ian, you should pick another hill to die on.

Ian, you should pick another hill to die on.

I've seen your other posts and I don't get your issue. I get you want Mac gone, and my argument - which you ignored - is we're stuck right now having to make the best of what we have because other than Zappe, who will potentially be a factor in 2023, we don't have another guy right now.

That's the hill myself - and all the "Mac apologists" are on until this QB situation works itself out, and that one I'm "willing to die on." Until there's an alternative, we need the guy(s) they have to play well. Or we need to have actual discussions about who they should replace him with. Saying "he sucks" makes for unproductive threads, and we've certainly had plenty of those as of late.

At the end of the day, we're stuck with "good" or average until great falls back into our laps. "It is what it is."

Indy and Ten were good D's last year. Atlanta, not so much. It's tough to even use the first Buffalo game because all Mac did was hand the ball off.

I would say Mac has been similar to last year's stretch lately this year. He looks like a rookie QB they don't trust much.

If Mac is getting a year 3 to decide his fate, I hope he gets BoB or some other OC.

You're arguments supporting Mac are now contradicting themselves. He's worse because he has a terrible coach and OL but he's statistically better? I realize the argument in this thread is incredibly weak as it's not apples-to-apples due to a variety of factors, but maybe slow down on the grasping at straws defense of Mac? Sure, we are all entitled to express our opinions but this new thread supporting Mac each day is getting ridiculous.

I posted the numbers after noticing the discrepancy. Do with them what you will.

Just ran these. He's actually a little better than he was last season. Not fantastic, but fewer turnovers:

Mac was not good last season after week 12. He played well in one game, the 50-10 blowout of Jacksonville (which was their 8th loss in a row). Take out that one game and to end the season Mac was 1-4 with 5 TDs and 7 INTs. I think people forget (or overlook) that Mac faded considerably last season after playing well during their 7-game winning streak. This season I don't think there's been a stretch of games where he's looked good.

That game isn't in the above total - it's the same 5-game span they're currently in.

And scratch the other comment I just deleted. I was looking up second-half totals earlier and forgot the box was still checked. #fail

So the windstorm game in BUF are skewing last season's numbers. If you look at the attempts and yards and add 30 & 215 or so they would be closer. Who knows on the TD/INT ones.

They should run the blindly chuck it 50 yards downfield into the endzone and have it deflect back into your receivers hands for a TD play more.

How much is that boosting the numbers?

We played some really good defenses the end of last year tho minus the Jags. There really hasn't been a great one so far in this stretch. Bills and Dolphins will be a tough one tho.

The Pats are not stuck right now.

Who enters this Miami game and plays QB if Mac gets hurt? Zappe.

BB is between a rock and a hard place though. Once you bench Mac, the dominoes begin to fall and especially with someone like him. If Zappe wins you've got a real problem on your hands.

LOL, I can't believe I live in a world where we have people actively rooting against the team's quarterback or trying to come up with ways to look at the totals to manipulate them to make him look worse. If anyone had told me that would be the case 20+ years ago when I put this place together, I never would have believed it. It's like some bizarre alternate universe.
