From Krafts point of view, he did not force Mac on BB from the beginning. He only put a committee in place to help with drafting because he had lost trust in BB’s ability to evaluate players. BB told him Brady was done and Brady goes and win a ****ing Super Bowl. That is what is driving Kraft and we are in for a world of hurt.
Listening to Mayo talk is so deflating with his passive aggressive criticism of BB. What this looks to me is Mayo finding a way to suck up to the Krafts and getting this job he is clearly not qualified for at this time. He may become good in the future but it will be after major pain.

I wonder if going to Miami to be Tua's backup would be a smart move for him (if he's cut and has a choice). QB friendly system and supporting cast, fellow Alabama alum already running the show, and familiarity with Waddle. If Tua gets nicked and misses a few games, that's the kind of offense where Mac could put up some artificial numbers and boost his value. Sign a one or two year deal there, hope to get 3 or 4 games where you're throwing short slants to Tyreek Hill and getting credit for 80 yard touchdowns, then sign somewhere with a questionable QB room where he can compete for a starting job.

They might look at a long term rebuild. Solidify WR and the OL in the draft this year, let Mac play out his final year. If he plays well and proves that it was BB who made it impossible for Mac to succeed then we have a QB. If he sucks again then we get another top 3 pick, maybe even the top pick.

You aren’t guaranteed a top 3 pick even if Mac sucks again, the supporting cast will be better. Next years QB class isn’t going to be as good as it is this year.

No reason to play around with the 3rd pick, the teams desperate for a QB, take a damn QB and move on.

He will have a very short leash though.

Sometimes being cut, or the next closest thing to being cut, can sober up an entitled mindset.

I could see it, though I'm more inclined to say he gets traded after the draft, possibly during early camp. I can see them signing a mid-level vet (like a Brissett type), drafting someone at 3, then letting Zappe and Mac compete for the 3rd QB role, with it going to whoever seems to have the best attitude going into camp. But as rough as the QB room has been, I'd rather have Mac or Zappe as QB3 than the revolving door we had this past season, so better to keep those options open until you're sure you don't need them.
