Gostkowski has done practically everything the Patriots could have expected.
He was in a tough place, trying to replace the greatest clutch kicker in the history of the NFL and a guy who is probably going to Canton. But he pulled it off like a pro (an "all Pro" even) both on and off the field. Even so, I winced when he missed a FG this year in the Saints game from almost the very same spot on the same field and towards the same Superdome end zone from which Adam won SB XXXVI.
I hope that the Pats can keep him as, watching the blown kicks in the Bengals game yesterday, I think we all should realize how fortunate we are to have had two superb Kickers in a row.
I think they should pay him whatever the top two or three kickers are getting, but I do expect the Patriots to be consistent with how they pay for every other position and not break new compensation ground to keep him.
