Lewis & Galloway, anybody?

You do realize, when the patriots go 2-wide, Welker plays outside, right? And that they don't seem to have any problem moving the ball?

He said it wasn't OPTIMAL. He didn't say he COULDN'T compete as a wide out. I'd be willing to say that during a season where aproximately 1000 offensive plays were run (approx 55-60 per game), Welker might have lined up in a 2 wide formaition less than 30 times.

BBs genius is being able to put players in positions where they are most likely to succeed. As a wide Welker has more trouble getting off press coverage, and doesn't have nearly the speed to threaten deep on a regular basis. Why take an asset and downgrade his maximum strengths (quickness and hand) to put him in a position where he's likely to be LESS effective. NOT uneffective...but LESS

So now that Lewis is a Viking and Galloway didn't come close to catching anything in game 1, is it still too early to worry about these two gelling with Brady?

This was a tremendous, emotional win where the offense had to battle to find its rhythm, and ultimately did. But I can't help but notice that all but 1 of the catches in Brady's 378-yard night were made by receivers on the 2007 roster. It would be awfully nice for a #3 WR to emerge.

Watson???

Also, wasn't Joey facing stronger coverage than expected?

Watson's a fine #3 pass-catching option, but this 3-wide offense really needs its 3rd WR. Not pressing panic buttons, but through all of camp, preseason and this game Galloway has been frustratingly invisible.
