Last night was a good example on why you shouldnt be too aggressive.

What was dumb was the way the played defense with 2 minutes left in regulation. Rushing 4, (who were gassed, particularly Bosa) and not maintaining contain. They lost the game because they had no depth (apparently) and couldn't or didn't sub anyone in and egregiously let Mahomes get out of the pocket with ease. So the defensive genius either has a poorly conditioned team, or a team with no depth, and a bad plan.

Staley has been doing that all year, I would argue that the Chargers would be a 5-9 football team if not for that aggression.

But yeah…kick a FG before half time! Also, remember…Mhomes threw an easy TD into the dirt and also had an interception on their 5 yard line which turned into a TD after the Chargers choked on a 4th and goal 2-3 plays before….

They won the first game against KC by being aggressive but they converted when they needed to. This game they could have won by taking the points when they had the chance because they didn't convert when they were aggressive.

As a head coach you have to have a feel for the game and how the offense and defense are playing, in the first half the Chargers defense was playing well and one field goal puts you up by 7 points at halftime, two FG’s they are up by 10 at halftime, instead he just went for it no matter what the situation. I’ve read that the players love when their coaches trust them to go for it, I’m sure there were some players on Friday thinking if we just kick one short FG we would be in first place.

But does he reject the idea that he just wadded up and burnt real actual points to ash on the analytics altar?

I found it interesting to learn that Bill Belichick, and hundreds of coaches throughout history, weren't/aren't real football guys. Thank goodness this asshat is here to finally show us what a real football guy is.
