Kravitz (sort of) mea culpa...

I remember trying to explain to him rationally that it would have been impossible for the Colts balls to be in the 12.5 - 13.5 PSI range at that temperature if they started in the legal range. He just did not care about science and it all came down to what he was told vs using the slightest bit of his own brain.

But...but guys! He apologized. Shouldn't that be good enough? Forget everything else, he apologized and like Pacman Jones, should be respected for it

Other than mouth-breathing jets and Colts fans, the only person who still thinks that the footballs were tampered with is Commissioner Scheisskopf.

Yes, he is an asshat, yes for the better part of a year he stuck to his story despite all the contradictory evidence. And yes he deserves all the **** we can give him...there is no but to this post, that is all.

So, if I understand this correctly, Kravitz sticks by his guns all this time, then decides to blame Mortensen right after he gets throat cancer?

Hey Bob, guess where you're heading:

This was not a mea culpa. It was a spin job. 'I did what any responsible reporter would do' ....'sometimes we get bad info' .....'I got bad info from Mortenson' .......(It's all his fault)........'based on the fraudulent info I received from Mortenson I called for BB's head' ........Oh and by the way I still think something happened.

This all make me sick. So now everyone admits the whole thing was a sham but the Pats still lose their draft pick! What the fck!

"That said, there were mistakes. I’m not going to address others' mistakes because that's none of my concern here, and they've been dutifully catalogued by the people of New England. But I should not have called for Bill Belichick's head after Chris Mortensen's "11 of 12 balls were 2 psi low" story, a story where it turned out that Mort's sources gave him inaccurate information. There were a few other tweets, most of them inspired by Mort's story, that I wish I could have back, like a pitcher who throws a hanging curve that ends up 50 rows deep."

I guess I'm supposed to believe that had Mort accurately reported that the Patriots' balls were measured below the legal limit at *1.3 PSI* instead of 2 PSI, Kravitz would have been leading the charge to defend Belichick because that pressure difference can be explained by the ideal gas law. It was the unsubstantiated anonymous sources claiming 0.7 PSI difference that caused him to jump the gun and exclaim that the Patriots are cheaters and Belichick deserves to be banned from the Super Bowl.

Please, Bob, are you trying to fool us or yourself? No Patriots fan is going to fall for this "mistakes were made" non-apology. You were continuing to call for people's heads even through Judge Berman's ruling, claiming that Berman was just a Patriots fan or something and that's why he ruled against Goodell in spite of all the ball pressure information made publicly available months earlier in the Wells Report, and now you want us to pretend that it was all Mort's fault. You wanted to play the role of Indy crusader, hero of NFL fans who have been cheated out of victory by the villainous, cheating Patriot scum. Your Indy readers want you to stay in that role. Keep giving them what they want. Don't pretend you have an olive branch to offer us if you aren't going to accept actual culpability for the prominent role you played in leading the witch hunt.

I don't think even goodell still believes that anyone tampered with the footballs. Maybe he did at first, but not anymore. Problem is, he's already wasted many months and millions of dollars trying to punish the Patriots, and there's no turning back now.

An honest person would admit their mistake and throw in the towel. But we all know that 'honest' is not a word used to describe roger goodell

He'd believe the science if you were talking about a meth lab.

Now that he knows he was misled, why doesn't he use his investigative skills to report on who was behind the misinformation campaign? Oh, wait! It's not on Google.

He's drawing the distinction that he got his reporting right and his analysis wrong.

That's a fair assessment. But I don't find it particularly interesting.

He's also saying that his hate mail is severe enough that it's more out of line than anything he did wrong.

That's probably fair too. But I don't find that particularly interesting either.

F' him. How many people will read this crap, after he slandered and outright attacked every thing about TB and BB. Never forget!!! The damage is done.

Good lord, I wish that were true. After recently being outside of NE for 10 days, my estimate would be that the only people who still think that the footballs weren't tampered with are Patriots fans. Fans of all of the other teams and those who aren't football fans at all simply believe Brady did it.

Hey Kravitz.

How about instead of a buried apology in a column somewhere, why don't you man up and call Belichick, and apologize directly to him?

I'd be more forgiving of these hacks if the NFL returns the ridiculous sanction for this nothing. Until then, I will be holding my grudges very tightly.
