Kraft Selling the Team!! Well sort of...

I saw that and am disgusted by them not doing that for TB.

I am so ashamed that this boarder line click bait meme continues to keep getting floated by the Kraft haters. It's pure BS. If Brady had gotten the same discount deal from the Pats that he did with the Raiders there would have been a MAJOR NFL investigation from the usual suspects over the Pats trying to over turn the cap rules by giving Brady illegal ownership benefits.

I stunned that after spending more money during FA this off season than any other NFL team in HISTORY, the "he's too cheap with his money meme keeps on flying off the shelves. That's even after he paid the highest price in NFL history at the time for a bad franchise with the WORST stadium infrastructure in the league.

Despite the fact he built a state of the art stadium (at the time) WITHOUT soaking the taxpayers for the usual 50% cost that was the going rate at the time, and even now that the percentages are lower, these taxpayer costs are still in the Billions and the only 2 guys who paid their own way for stadiums were Bob Kraft and the LA Rams guy

Tom Brady was never the highest paid QB for any length of time, he his last 10 years he was always among the higher paid players in the league.

People forget that Kraft invested a TON of money in the stadium area on what was a long shot at the time that the stadium area could become viable economic area more than the 10-15 times a year there was an event there.

Frankly I'm sick of it. Bob Kraft by any objective measure has been the best owner in the Boston area in our LOONG lifetimes. and while an occasional "asia orchards" reference is sometimes deserved, the **** he takes is well over the top and sometimes boarders on the anti-semitic. That's not to say I have always agreed with what Bob has done. I was always among those who would have fought the NFL to the Supreme Court during Brady "bogus suspension", but I understood the logic behind it.

I'm pretty sure we would have gotten another NFL franchise in the early 2000 if Bob Kraft hadn't bought the Patriots and they had moved to St Louis. At least I think so based on our area TV market share, but who knows. However, in the weeks following his purchase you'd have hard pressed to find many that thought he had made a smart deal, or let alone he'd turn it into an investment that would grow from $187MM to one that could pull in $700MM for just 7% of value

Gotta fund the kid's campaign.

I called this yesterday. In 10-15 years the New England Patriots will be the Berlin Patriots and Patriot Place will be a massive mixed use housing development complete with 50% low income.

Agreed. No way they don't pay out of the low income requirement though. All high end condos for sure.
There just won't be the demand for another stadium once this one wears out its welcome or income earning potential.
Hell they are tearing down Mile High here soon. New owners want a new shiney toy.
Once Jonathan sells out it is as good as gone...

I am pretty sure Foxboro is nowhere near the 10% of "affordable" housing threshold the Commonwealth requires. You can't build in Massachusetts without an "affordable" set aside. Throw 3,000 units, 500 "affordable" on the remnants of Gillette, the practice fields, the hall of fame, the parking lots across the street...and foxboro makes the MA politicians happy, Kraft gets a massive payday selling the team.
And there is absolutely no way MA politicians play ball on a new stadium, no ****ing way.

Does he even really like Brady?

I don't think Brady would have wanted to buy a piece of the Patriots. I think he wanted a piece of a team in a good destination (according to him) and for him to help shape a team in his image. That wasn't New England.

Mark Davis is a nepo baby who seems like a total hands off owner. Brady is pretty much making most of the big decisions for the team.

I don't know about quotas but I'm pretty sure they actually are in the process of adding a street just behind Gillette that will include affordable housing.

It's nice to have some walking around money.

Has anyone told RKK you can't spend money when you're dead? Might as well go crazy spending on the team the next several years... especially with Maye on his rookie deal. Definitely not holding my breath though.
I don't know why anyone thinks that this withdrawal says anything about patriot plans.

Kraft has made billions (on paper) from an investment. He is reasonably taking out some of the profits. He might do anything with this new cash on hand. Of course, folks here have all kinds of suggestions with regard to how he should spend his money.

Excuse me, but is there suddenly something WRONG with the concept of affordable housing or in this Trumponian distopia where diversity is a swear word is the idea of housing people can afford is a bad idea

I have no idea what you or the other original poster are going on about I just found it interesting he said something about affordable housing and I just heard a few weeks ago there was something in the works.

Kraft spent more than any team in history in the last off-season. Surely, he should be expected to do this again and again before the 2027 season.
