I am really, really sick of this idiotic speculation that Kraft would fire BB out of some kind of moral repugnance.

Kraft is the guy who got hugely favorable worldwide publicity for two days (e.g., front page of CNN.com) for telling a lie. (Specifically, for saving Putin's face over the ring pocketing incident.)

Kraft has made a huge fortune in businesses where the major determinant of success is a very small number of deals. Such businesses always involve, at a minimum, poker playing in negotiation to the point of deception.

Those businesses also involve, in one form or another, major real estate. Land deals are very rarely totally clean.

I see no reason why there would be any kind of a breach between Robert Kraft and Bill Belichick.

The only reason I bring the rift between the 2 its been a bad yr publicly for Belichick, and Kraft still has the Parcells scar from how Parcells was embarrsing in the super bowl to him.. It maybee hog wash, since I think Kraft knows what he has in Belichick, and I think Belichick would walk away before Kraft let him go...

Nobody's an angel, but your post lists absolutely nothing to back up the title. "He's in real estate"??????? How about a specific?

Thank you. I was going to jump in with that but did not have the energy.

Well, just for one, some people in Connectucut still think he's a manipulative liar who cost them millions...though most rational folks understand he had to say or do whatever it took to leverage himself a stadium deal that would work.

And then there was that DC they wanted to talk to who got an instant promotion to HC before they could even fax in their request for permission to. Yet he somehow new that resigning ASAP would ultimately lead to a new HC deal with an organization he couldn't possibly have already spoken to...

I think just those two examples alone are proof that Kraft is willing to make risky decisions with the potential to backfire, including those that require rationalized interpretations of what was said or what could be done, to achieve a desired goal.

Kraft's statement seems crystal clear to me that he has BBs back.
In fact I speculate that BB will be secretly extended to cover the cost of the fine.

Kraft will do what he thinks he needs to do (kind of like someone else) - ask Hartford. Kraft came out looking real good there with so much private funding but his dealings with regard to Hartford weren't exactly of boy scout quality

While I do agree with the point regarding Hartford, sticking with Foxboro was altruistic in the fact that he knowingly made a decision that would personally cost him hundreds of millions of dollars. Had he backed out in favor of a deal that would have been more financially beneficial, then that would have been different (and all too common in today's world).

If he went through with the Hartford move the Patriots, not the Redskins, would be the highest value NFL franchise.

I agree.

And I see little reason to suspect such a statement of being untrustworthy.

I agree. Belichick will come out financially sound and be able to continue his career in the NFL or as a VP for Kraft. Kraft did this for someone else once, someone to whom he also owed alot. HOWEVER, depending on the evidence and intent of the Commissioner, we do not know the future of Belichick on the patriots.

I agree.

BB's fine should get divided up among the owners right? The NFL is really just a group of 32 ownership entities as I see it. So what does Kraft do with the $15,625 that he'll get from BB?

I don't know. A lot of times, the fines go to charity.
