If a CB is taken first then that would most likely mean Bill is not going to extend Gilmore. I'm not sure when RFA's have to sign by.

If he signs an offer sheet from another team during that time, the Pats would have five days to match it. If they don’t match then Jackson goes to the new team and the Pats get their 2021 second round pick.

I don’t know how the rule applies if the team that gives the offer sheet doesn’t have a second rounder for this year, whether it goes to next year or if they’re ineligible to submit an offer sheet in the first place. Definitely some luck involved, but it also helps that he has a quick release so he's rarely getting hit without a chance to brace himself and fall properly. Don't underestimate the value of knowing how to fall. It's something they taught us in martial arts, and it saved me from a nasty head hit when I wiped out rollerblading (I know, I know, that previous sentence pretty much makes me the coolest dude).

still remember being overseas, on the back of a motorbike with my friend.. he went around a huge bend with too much speed, wheels went out front under us.. I instinctively tumbled in a ball away from the bike, but he got pretty messed up in terms of just huge amounts of his flesh being ripped off from the pavement

Sometimes the things you do can help contribute to your luck, and Brady is certainly a living example of that. I don't mean to call it "luck" to discredit what he does, there is a tremendous amount of disciple, both physically, mentally and spiritually in his regiment... his footwork, his 20+ years of instincts in the pocket, etc certainly helps in his self preservation

He's quite an anomaly, and i hope he keeps it going... i had a nightmare one time that was recurring about Brady being this godly figure to all of us, and then getting a catastrophic injury on the field... dont like thinking about that stuff, dont know why it creeps in, but i just hope he can keep going strong and just go out with a big, perverbial swinging **** in his hands

at the end of the day it doesn't hurt to have lady luck looking out for you

Disagree on this, there might be some luck in avoiding serious injury but on the whole I think Brady understood how serious injuries occur and dedicated his regimen to developing as much flexibility as he possibly could to be able to withstand the pounding while not breaking.

i agree, kind of explained it in my previous post.. didn't mean to have it sound like a negative, or chalk up his success to "luck" by any means... i think his discipline, skill, etc greatly contributes to all of that and helps create his own "luck"

So, when arguing that draft position has an advantage, the draft is too unpredictable for it to matter.

When arguing that the draft is unpredictable, and bad picks are often only realized in hindsight, we're told it doesn't matter and the GM sucks.

When told you may be able to find a QB outside of the top 10, we're told the draft position matters a great deal and that's unlikely.

So which is it? Does draft position matter, or is the draft all random and thus all criticism might as well be levied at a pair of dice?

The draft isn't completely random like throwing dice but it isn't a sure thing either. N'Keal Harry proves that.

The GOAT QB was picked 199th and I have a hard time crediting anyone but **** Rehbein for seeing his future greatness. Luckily Bill took his advice and drafted him.

Just like Walsh and Montana, Belichick and Brady achieved their accomplishments by working together, and both deserve equal credit for their accomplishments, you can’t separate and parse the two, unless you are a moron.

just because Brady won a super bowl with the Bucs doesn't diminish Bill's accomplishments and doesn't mean brady would've won 6 without Bill. Belicheck did have a hand in putting those teams together and putting the defensive game plans together.

If bill brought Aaron Rodgers to the patriots and won a super bowl does that mean that he would've won 6 with any other great QB? it doesn't and its why the argument/analogy is stupid.
