Kornheiser Says Patriots will go Undefeated

Undefeated and unscored upon! We will march down the field at will, so no need to waste a roster spot on a punter, nor a placekicker as we will go for, and get, two every time! Advertisers will not dare to interrupt our awesomeness with their trivial consumer products!

Wait... what about kickoffs?

Tom Brady will drop kick.

No need for that...Brady will onside kick, and we will recover, of course. The only question is: will we return it for a TD, or will the offense have to take the field for one play?

Kornheiser loves the Patriots. He has since 2001. I remember listening to his radio show the Monday after the 2001 super bowl, and it clearly affected him. He talked about two things for about two hours: (1) the introduction, and (2) how badly Martz got outcoached.

I listened to him pretty faithfully on XM radio until he quit his radio show to do MNF. He simply views the Patriots as the gold standard in football in the parity era. Kornheiser sees himself as an intellectual -- and the reality is that he's very smart -- and I think he is just impressed with Belichick's intellectual approach to the game. He also is a shameless Redskins fan, and I think that Piolichick is in so many different ways the antithesis of Daniel Snyder that Kornheiser is envious and very respectful.

Kornheiser has cultivated his clown-like image pretty carefully, in large measure because he's parlayed it into a fair amount of cash. But the reality is that, at bottom, he's an outstanding sports guy with true, deep sports journalist chops. He's an outstanding writer and when he takes the time to develop his points, rather than quick hitter one-liners on PTI, he's insightful.

The guy has been an enormous and earnest fan of our team. I really can't see any reason for criticizing him. As for his saying we'll go undefeated, it's just his way to make his point about how he respects what the team has done in the law few weeks. Obviously, it's not to be taken seriously as if Ron Jaworski said it or anything. But it's still his way of paying the team a high compliment.

Very well put. TK is as good a guy as there is in the sports media. Wilbon is just as good, which is why PTI is such a great show to watch.

I like it but I don't know why they always yell. When a more sensitive topic comes up like aplayer death they speak in softer tones and I wish they would talk like that all the time. But I think it is the best analysis show on ESPN. I can not stand Jim Rome is Burning.

True..........

you are correct, if Welker kicks and punts Troy can stay on the team... brilliant

Here's the thread

i like to see 19-0 this year. I'll worry about another perfect record next year because i don't like to speculate too much

I personally thought this was the stupidest thing I ever saw, until after the Chargers game.

Then I was intrigued at the Pats' bounce-back reaction to SpyGate.

And after the following week, I was sold on it seriously being a possibility. There was something in the air about those blowouts. You could feel it. It was the systematic proof that every whiner who wanted a ring for losing was full of #*&$%#*&^.

Of course, we haven't done it yet. That's worth remembering. And way more importantly, we haven't won the SB, the more important goal.

I do like our season thus far, however.

PFnV

he's been saying that since the days right after they landed Moss, Stallworth, Thomas, and Welker.

5 games to go against, most likely:

1. A very good Super Bowl opponent
2. A very good AFCC opponent
3. A good divisional round opponent
4. A mediocre Giants team with little to play for
5. A lousy Fins team with a LOT to play for (their jobs, each other's jobs, the record held by the franchise, general pride)

Anyone who EVEN THINKS New England is going to go 19-0 is downright stupid and goes beyond being a homie.get your heads checked, your nuts if you think its even possible, even 15-1 or 14-2 is unlikely with the teams we play this year, wake up!

+1. Stop with all of this 19-0 rubbish. It makes ME look bad that you guys are even talking that sort of nonsense on this board. I would hope discriminating minds would look at themselves as a sports fan, and more specifically as Pats fans, and immeadiately dismiss this Pats Porn as garbage. G A R B A G E. Lets see if we can win in week 1. I almost am looking forward to a loss, so all this undefeated verbal diarrhea of the mouth and the press will go away.....There is a better chance of catching a cod in a corn field than there is any chance of a team going 19-0 in the league. It will NEVER happen. Ever. Drop it.

Absolutely pathetic and disgusting. Posts like that make Merril Hoge look like Einstein in comparison.

I believed they could do it. I remember I got into this convoluted argument with Homer something or other who was trying to prove that 19-0 was impossible. Sorry to break it to you, but no formula currently used is sophisticated enough to accurately forecast the outcome of football games. The Pats are simply BETTER than the rest of the league. Even though that margin isn't always as large, it exists. And with the way the Patriots are eating humble pie, they won't be allowed to underestimate anyone, even the lowly Doofins.
