King rips the Pats (again)

Wow. Ten pages on a PERCEIVED negative comment by Peter King, who over time has been the biggest Pats booster among the so called national media. Granted it was poor thinking to judge the Pats defense on 30 minutes of one game.

One could say that the Pats will have 8 significant new back 7 contributors that WERN'T available the second half of that game. (Harrison, Wilson, Gay, Hawkins, Seau, Thomas, Merriweather, and James). I think that will help just a bit this season against the Colts.

BTW- I'm thrilled with King picking the Colts and not us. I hate being the favorite. I'm much more comfortable in the underdog roll. I only hope more of the so called experts find fault in what the Pats have done this off season....and I will laud them all.

Investing the pick in a (almost certainly) higher pick is obviously not throwing it away.

What I have seen in the past is going out a year is worth a round of upgrade.

I expect San Fransisco to be much improved. We will be lucky to gain 10 spots nevermind a full round. I think it was a waste to trade that pick for what we got in return.

Interesting twisting of my words.

I thought that I was pointing out the obvious. If you were an opposing OC, would you not go after Alexander, the least experienced defender on the field??

Out of the ten tackles that Alexander had, 5 of them were on plays that the Colts gained a 1st down. The ten tackles Alexander had were on plays that the Colts averaged 7.3 yards. And that's not including the 32 yard pass to Fletcher at the end of the game in which Alexander was isolated on Fletcher. I happen to think that the Colts wanted Alexander to have the most tackles. I do not think that it is a mere coincidence that the Colts averaged 5.1 yards on the other 69 plays and 9.5 on the above 11 plays. I just do not see the number of tackles that he had in the AFCC game as proof of anything except that the Colts considered him the weak link in that game.

I wasn't referring to anything you said nor was I trying to twist your words. If I were referring to something you said I would have said "You seem to go after Alexander and portray him as a worthless player" instead of "People seem to go after Alexander and portray him as a worthless player."

Regardless of how the Colts may have targeted him I think the fact that he was out there making tackles shows that the coaches have confidence in him. Also I have not watched the game again but I think some people (not necessarily you!) focus too much on the the Fletcher play which if I remember correctly was just as much the safety's fault.

I'm not convinced that the Colt's yardage on plays where he made the tackle is reason to label them all Alexander's fault. Alexander forced the fumble near the goal line that the Colt's recovered, had a sack and pass defended. He had trouble covering Dallas Clark but that is a mismatch for most linebackers, he also had a tackle of Harrison who I doubt was his responsibility. Like I said I haven't watched the game again so I could be wrong about this.

This is all getting way beyond the point I was trying to make, which was that I feel Alexander and the depth of our LBs is better than Seymonsta was saying. I do not want Alexander starting for us next season, but I feel that he is a young improving player who could start making bigger contributions as he gains more experience.
