Kinda OT (do pro-bowl selection really mean anything?)

Derek Anderson is a probowler .

Another thing to keep in mind is that being named to the Pro Bowl is about that one single year, not a career. Just because an average player like Derek Anderson went to the Pro Bowl, that does not mean he did not deserve that honor. In Anderson's case, his performance in 2007 merited him a trip to the Pro Bowl; each of his other seasons merited him a clipboard on the sidelines. There was nothing faulty with his being named to the Pro Bowl that year.

The other thing is that there is (or should be) a huge difference between being voted to the Pro Bowl and going as an alternate. Unfortunately the two usually get lumped in together, so the person with the most votes at his position (e.g., Manning or Brady) doesn't get much more recognition than the guy that goes as the 8th alternate (e.g., Garrard).

If you want to look for a better distinction find who was voted in as a Pro Bowl starter; or for who was named as an All-Pro as opposed to a Pro Bowler.

It is a well known fact that players vote as much based on hype/buzz or perception if in fact they bother to vote at all... Ditto coaches who often vote for guys who personally give them fits whether that relates to the players performance or the coaches lack thereof... I think in Big Bang's case to an extent players voted in support of his headhunting and out of displeasure with Goodell for fining him and the NFL for making him the poster boy for the illegal hit...

So Meriweather has the same Prbowls than Anwuan boldin and Albert Haynesworth? Get the f out men that system is wrong

It's one factor in determining a player's value. Obviously we know that Haynesworth and Boldin are better than Meriweather, because we use the other factors to determine that.

If you look at a guy with 10 probowls and a guy with 2, you probably don't need to look at the other factors.

Just looking a bit deeper, but 3 Pro Bowls seems to be a good measure. It eliminates the flukes, the injury replacements, et cetera. Here's a list of guys with 3 Pro Bowls since 2000. Some of the names are no longer Pro Bowlers, but it's tough to argue they weren't at one time during the past decade.
