So I've been to other forums and seen comment sections around Celtics talk and just wondering what some here think...

    Do you want Kevin Love?

    My perfect price for Love is #6 + #17 + '16 BKN + Sully + Oly + Wallace

This way, Flip gets 3 legit picks, a budding post player and a possible decent player and we get Love and get to lose Wallace's salary which can set us up to make a run at Melo or just pay a very good role player and make us a solid playoff team.

Other people believe that Sully is a future All-Star, bold and I don't see him being better than Love, or they want to build through the draft with the picks.

The building through the draft scares me because if BOS doesn't get Love, Rondo is gone and its really blown up a this point.

The problem with building thru the draft for me is that we want become contenders for another 4-5 seasons and that's IF those picks pan out for us. I don't want to end up like Indy and not make the playoffs for years then slowly build thru the draft and finally think you have it together then implode and find out you aren't good enough. Or we could become the next Cavs or Bobcats are just suck forever.

I think that trading, reasonably (no more than 3 picks and Sully/Oly for Love), is the best way to go. We don't even need to make the next Big 3 this season. Just stick with Rondo and Love and make the playoffs and look to find a 3rd star over time while still winning ball games.

    Just my opinion, what's yours?

dont know about giving up Sully AND Oly but i see your point. Love would be the quicker way to rebuild and maybe Rondo would stay

im all for it but im not holding my breath. both 1st round picks this year and sul or oly sounds good to me if that's the offer.

I would rather rebuild and I would rather do that without Rondo ............

I say trade Rondo & Wallace & Green at the draft and pick up more picks.

You are giving up a lot for Kevin Love in my opinion. Do not get me wrong Love is a fantastic player but you are giving up essentially 5 first round picks (#21 in 2012, #13 in 2013, #6 and #17 in 2014, and TBD in 2016).

If you look at previous drafts, the #6 and 17 picks don't have a high rate of hitting an all star.

It may take us 4-5 first rounders just to find a player that Love can bring to the table. Granted I think Sully is going to be a good player who could give you 16-8 a night, if the Celts get Love they have a core to work with.

Rondo and Love is a good start and from there with two all stars you many be able to attract another star or solid role players

Problem I have with Love is as good a player as he is it does not appear he can carry a franchise. Minnesota has a few other pieces that they soorrounded him with but they still remain basement dwellers. If you give up that much for Love you basically have Love and Rondo, and how much better is that than Love and Rubio?

I've heard a lot of people try to make that argument which is fair, but Love also plays in the West. So he has to play SA, LAC, OKC, POR, GSW, And MEM 3-4 times a season which really hurts. Imagine if he's in the East where real competition is only Indy, MIA and maybe Chicago.

Rondo is a far better player than Rubio. Even though their traits are similar, rondo has shown he can ball with the big boys when asked to.

This season, a team of Rondo-Bradley-Green-Bass-Love would be a 4-8 seed in the East.

I love Rondo he is my favorite basketball player to watch, I really enjoy him, so I agree he is better than Rubio but they do have similar qualities so it will be a similar situation. Love reminds me of a significantly better version of David Lee, but just like Lee, he fills up the stat sheet but his production does not translate wins and losses. Honestly, I do not know why, it is one of those situations where the player as an individual contributor is outstanding but he does not make those around him better. Kevin Garnett when acquired did not have the type of stats Love has, but his true value was in his aptitude. His presences made others better.

I am not against Love; I really would not want to give up more than #6, one of either Sulliger or Olynyk, Wallace, and a future top 10 protected draft pick.

Everything you said is spot on. Love can fill it up but doesn't seem to make those around him better. KG is a guy that is a first ballot HOFer too which must be remembered.

But, I also think that if Love comes to a different place he may make the players in our organization better. When KG was in Minny he had only one deep playoff run and he had 2-3 actual players around him at that point. Obviously when KG came here he made guys like Perk 500 times better but in Minny, they never won many playoff series and were always lower seeds at a time when the West was much weaker so KG could be thrown into that group with love not making the team much better.

I think if Love came here with Rondo, something nice could happen. Love is an excellent passer as is , obviously, rondo. Love also loves outside spot up shooting which will benefit the way rondo plays which is attack and kick to open shooter.

When I made the original OP I believed that GSW was heavy in the race for Love but now that that has fallen apart the price for love is lower. I'd be fine parting with 3 1sts and just one of KO or Sully

I know what you are saying, but #1 picks are often busts - and what Minn is going to want is proven players plus some draft picks - not just draft picks

If they'd take what joepatsfan suggests, you do that deal in a heartbeat. The Celtics have a solid foundation and plenty of remaining draft picks to use or trade for proven players - But I think they'll get better offers than that from other teams

Still it comes down to Love - if he has his heart set on Boston he can make it happen (and I don't remember him making any well publicized visits to other cities!)

If they don't get Love then I think you have to take a different approach to re-building - and that might be to see what offers you get for Rondo.
