Justin Hunter not impressing in Tennessee

Most rookie WR's don't impress in their first season in the pro's.

It's not a question of his production, but more his effort. the article says he's soft.

Hunter's a thoroughbred, or at least he was in Tennessee. Not a workhorse. One of the reasons I backed off of him near draft time (when I loved him in the months leading up to it) is his reluctance to run the short and intermediate routes. Give him the deep routes and that's what his game is suited for.

I'm sure Hunter will come around. Like the article said, there are a lot of experienced receivers on the team, so Hunter doesn't have a lot of pressure on him to be the main focal point. Also, the coaches were screaming at him for catching a 3rd down pass that gained a first down, yet he went backwards to try to gain more yardage. They said that's a typical rookie mistake, but hell, I saw Roddy White do that last night, and he's been in the league quite a while, it happens.

Keenan Allen, the guy I think most people wanted over Dobson, had 2 receptions for 13 yards last night.

Justin Hunter hears more complaints from Titans coaches | ProFootballTalk

Just thought this was interesting since so many of us wanted hunter in the draft. I am completely happy we chose A Dobb.

The problem with justin Hunter is he is a typical U Tennesee WR. Big, talented, a thug, and as dumb as a rock, with delusions of self love and just full of it.

He couldn't/wouldn't learn this Playbook, and if he did in say three years, he would be an absolute pain in the posterior, when negotiating a new contract, with him so full of the DIVA attitude.

Another just like him is Corderelle Patterson.

Our UT WR never actually set foot on the campus, so he didn't get re-contaminated, before going to U Cincinnati.

Hunter doesn't matter to me. For me, it's going to be v. Boyce, while I'll also be keeping an eye on Woods.

FWIW I don't think any rookie WR has received as much hype and attention as ours have. Maybe Robert Woods and DeAndre Hopkins come close though.

Are you generalizing ? Or you know for a fact that Hunter and Patterson are dumb as rocks and have diva mentalities ? I find your comments on this matter to be kinda ridiculous, unless you know those guys personally.

Speaking of Patterson, who was taken with the pick NE traded to Minnesota...the latest word is he's struggling with the playbook, as one would expect, and remains low on the depth chart at this point. They're now trying him as a KR to get him on the field.

Robert Woods was the only WR I would have even thought about at #29, and by all reports he's off to a strong start. As a reminder, the Pats' ultimate yield from that pick was:

Jamie Collins + Logan Ryan + Josh Boyce + 1/2 of LeGarrett Blount

I'm going on the track record of U Tennessee WRs; and draft commentary about them. D'Arick Rodgers is another example of the guys recruited by UT, and tossed out of UT, when their antics just got too much to bear.

Patterson scored in the single digits in the Wonderlic. I am unaware of Justin's score. But I beleive it was similar, IOW, too dumb to be able to sign his name.

The only WR maybe better than Dobson in the draft, was Robert Woods and he is is somewhat smaller, but a complete WR.

Deandre hopkins is another guy to look out for. I honestly think the pats were going to draft if he were around at 29 and once houston took him at 27 that's when BB decided to move down.

I don't know what the wonderlic measures but I do know it doesn't measure Football Intelligence.

That's true, but if you can't crack double digits on it then pretty strongly suggests you're a genuinely stupid person.

Also, in case anyone missed it, the Tennessee WR coach is our very own Shawn Jefferson. I had no idea that that's what he's up to these days.

I liked Hunter leading up to the draft and would have been a-okay with the Pats taking him. On an unrelated note, I'm god-awful at predicting how WRs will do in the NFL. Still rattled by how wrong I was about Jonathan Baldwin.

Wouldn't it be Wheaton vs Dobson?

It's not like it they passed on Wheaton for Boyce. They passed on Wheaton for Dobson and then Wheaton was gone before they made their next pick.

No. Without going in depth, Dobson was fine for me, and I'd have preferred a trade up to get Wheaton over Boyce.
