Patriots Player Departure Josh Gordon Stepping Away?

Gordon was clever enough to slip a Bill Belichick devised security plan, but let's all pray for his mental health

Hilarious.

If you knew anything about mental illness, specifically addiction (and perhaps depression and/or anxiety, not sure what's up with Gordon) you wouldn't be making crass, flippant remarks expressing humor at Gordon's situation.

And apparently Belichick feels similarly, since he issued a statement in support of Gordon.

Addicts can be absolute geniuses to get their fix. Doesn’t mean the guy doesn’t need help.

He will never change because he does not care. Beyond help

Belichick is going to be diplomatic and say nice things to avoid controversy in the sensitive world we live in today.

Gordon crapped on him and the team.

Wait, are you trying to say if he isn't mentally healthy he shouldn't be clever enough to do that? Maybe I'm misunderstanding that. I hope I am

Really? You don't think Belichick could have simply not commented on the situation and said that they were going to focus on the players who are with the team?

He made the statement he did for a deliberate reason, and I have a hard time believing that a guy like Belichick, who seems to care very little about public perception, would issue a statement in support of a former player simply because he felt compelled to, and not because he actually supports that player.

Anyone blaming Brady's garbage game on Gordon's absence?

I haven't seen anyone in this thread saying "haha what a loser" but at the same time there seems to be tons of excuses made for him. What difference is there between him and Kareem Hunt? He had an entire group of people trying to physically hold him back from screwing up his career. Gordon had an entire security detail dedicated to preventing him from relapsing. Both of them went out of their way to make poor choices and screw up their careers. Both of them have issues with self control. I'm sorry but the guy has admitted to previously joining a gang, stealing cars, fighting, scamming, and selling drugs. He has been thrown out of middle schools, high schools, and colleges. He has been arrested for drugs, DWI, and also had a warrant out for his arrest for skipping out on taking a paternity test for his kid.
He has let teammates and organizations down for most his life. He does whatever he wants and he always gets another chance. I am not saying people don't deserve a second chance but I don't know about a third, fourth, fifth, etc. There are millions of people that suffer from mental health issues and addiction and I can't imagine 99.9% of them get half the chances Josh Gordon has. I think he knows how to manipulate people and situations and he uses the mental health card as a way to turn poor behavior into a sympathy thing. I was excited when we traded for the guy. I thought he may need to just get out of Cleveland and start fresh. I wanted him to succeed because he said and seemed to do all the right things and could help the team. He let everyone down again and I am sorry but I cannot bring myself to feel sorry for the guy.

Kareem Hunt physically harmed an individual who posed no physical threat to him.

Gordon struggles with his mental health and takes drugs to attempt to improve how he feels.

Massive difference.

Because domestic violence and addiction have nothing in common. I mean seriously?

Gordon has admitted to violent activities and was arrested for DWI which could easily injure someone. Violence is violence.

Basically I am asking why all the excuses?

Okay? He's suspended for substance abuse. You ever do something you're not proud of? Imagine if you're employer found out and fired you. Regardless it has nothing to do with the topic

See I can make stupid comparisons too

So he's only screwed up once?

I'm not arguing he should be playing. I'm more hitting back at the people who have no idea what addiction is.
So being an addict absolves you from any scrutiny for your actions? You can screw up over and over and play the addict card and no one can call you out?

Again, I didn't say that? You just compared domestic assault to addiction which is a clown comparison. I'm simply calling it out as a clown comparison.
