Patriots Player Departure Josh Gordon Stepping Away?

Time for Gronk to turn back into Gronk. He's sure playing like a TE who follows a sissy, mostly plant-based diet. He needs to get on a new diet ASAP comprised of steak, liver and caviar.

The postseason could be fun. For the first time really since 2001 there are no real expectations - especially with Pats fans. If they lose, they lose. But what if they win ....
I get your point but it feels different. I think for a lot of fans this year probably not going anywhere is a big disappointment and for some others it's just a chance for them complain and point fingers about who sucks etc. I posted before that while some of us are pissing and moaning over our "failed season" other fan bases would thrilled to be where we are......like we all were in 2001 at this point in the season. Personally I'm surprised at we are right now but at the same time I'm happy the ride is still going. If we win then holy crap, how'd we do that? If we don't, then like you said, if they don't, they don't. I'm not going to whine about it.

I think he knew that this was coming on or before the Steeler's game. Events surrounding the end of the game was very strange. Additionally he left very early after the game I hear. Did not want to talk with reporters.

I'd prefer that diet be largely comprised of safeties and LB's

Weed isn't addictive, it's just habit forming. I take tolerance breaks all the time and other than some mood changes and a little bit of nausea here and there it's really easy to stop taking. I'm not being pedantic, I think it's an important distinction because it's not like you end up fiending for some kush after 48 hours. If his issues are all weed use and he's still unable to stop himself from using it I think speaks to something more than just the guy being a stoner.

There's clearly something pathological going on with his substance abuse. But we also probably won't know if it was actually weed or another substance.

I have no bad feelings for the guy, I just think he's sick. I sometimes go on weed benders where I'm high from 5pm to midnight every day for weeks. And then I'll stop getting high for months because as much fun as it is to get stoned it's also fun to accomplish stuff and to not eat 4k calories a day.
Hes talked about it, he has anxiety issues. If you've ever had constant anxiety you'd know you'll do anything for relief. Hopefully he can find something that helps him.

Josh was informed he was being suspended and then he and his PR people sent out the "leaving the team" message.

Nice try by Josh to change the narrative and show some ownership of his challenge but sadly he relapsed.

Andy, I respect you, but not this opinion. Gordon clearly has demons. The opportunities that he has blown are a testament to that. The guy just can’t get out of his own way.
I respect you and your opinion as well. But we don’t know that.
Are you saying every kid that smokes a lot of weed has demons?
I mean there are many people out there who want to do what they want to do and fight having any type of discipline.
There is a guy in my company who is very talented but failing because instead of working he likes to chit chat about non work stuff, focuses his morning on ordering lunch and is going to ruin his career. Should we look for demons?
Many people in Gordon’s age group consider weed an enjoyable habit not a means to escape a demon.

Given some of his other antics, such as staying away from camp because he had a child custody case pending suggest to me that it’s not demons but priorities, discipline and accountability.
I recognize that many drug addicts/users are self medicating other seeker issues but it just doesn’t seem to be the case here.
I totally accept that none of us really know but that’s my opinion.

People smoking weed in many states legally and Josh has a problem because he smokes it?

I've been saying for a few years now ... weed should not be a punishable offense.

If it has to be punishable then a few game penalty regardless of how many times you get caught.

Also if he did use again then the Patriots have known about it for a while now.

I am not going to fault the Patriots for trying - glad to have a coach who takes risk.
The beating these guys take the NFL should let them smoke weed.

I really don’t know anything about him. It’s just very hard for me to think that someone could willingly do this to himself over and over again unless they were driven very hard in that direction.

I just have some serious rachmones for this guy, I guess.

We just scored 10 points. I don't think it is that big of a loss.

Correct me if I’ve missed something, but I haven’t seen anything that actually states he did any drugs/drank - only that he violated the terms of his conditional reinstatement. That could simply mean he missed a test. Couple that with the massive crazy messy posts his (apparently ex-) girlfriend is making and I don’t think it’s outside the realm of possibility to say he’s simply having lady troubles and he is having issues coping with that considering his history, and legitimately needs a mental health break. The NFL would still have to suspend him for missing a test during that time, but it’s not crazy to think it would be shorter term if he took another test after a little bit and it was clean and he had a story to back things up. I mean it could still end up being a year suspension or something but not necessarily “done forever.”

Does that make sense to anyone else or am I just being an insane homer?
It's possible. Based on his history, though, what do you think is more likely: That scenario or he used something he knew would get him banned? I think the odds are on the latter and assumed as much in my post. That being said, nobody knows for sure and I prefer you to be right over me.

Regards,
Chris

So we've given the Browns 3 picks for free, basically.

The Pats got very good production out of him during the time he was with them, at a time when they sorely needed WR help. In exchange, the Pats dropped probably about 45 spots in the latter stages of the 2019 draft.

That's a pretty small price to pay, all things considered, though obviously I wish they had gotten more out of the deal.
