But this is different. And what a cheap way to extend a record. It’s already a cheap record since your QB runs for so many yards, and it’s not like a traditional running game to begin with.

What difference does it make how much time is left??? If you can run out the clock whether it's 2 mins or 5 secs make absolutely no difference.

Again both the offense and defense have the same amount of time in a game, so just stop the offense if you have an issue with them gaining yards.

As a paying fan I would rather see 1 more play where the offense goes against a defense, versus a "victory firmation".
