John Harbaugh ridiculed for bypassing kneel-down to extend 100-yard rushing streak

Donks players/bench seemed to care.

Brilliant strategic move by Harbaugh because his players will love him for doing this.
Helps bring the team together, an us versus them mentality.
If this were the patriots, everyone on this board would love Belicheck for doing this.
Broncos should have stopped him if they knew it was coming.

Love him or hate em, Harbaugh is a brilliant coach and his players will not forget this.

He actually looked for Strahan and ran toward him LMAO

This record will be very helpful for Baltimore when they go one-and-done in the playoffs again.

Like others have said, if you don't want them to run the ball on you, play some defense.

We are all getting so freaking soft! When did letting a player or team secure a streak get so many peoples knickers in knot! Put on your big boy pants and if you don't want to run with big dogs, stay on the porch!

Are we supposed to be impressed with this? They accomplished this record with essentially a glorified rb in at qb. Now had they achieved this with flacco as the qb that would be a different story.

The guy is a great coach but one of the biggest whiners in the league. If this had happened to him there would be a post game hissy fit.

I can tell a lot of young posters in this thread

they forget 07 when BB was ridiculed for passing in red zone up 45-7 in 4th quarter and going for it on 4th down
Yeah I didn't like that either. But that wasn't the only season. There were plenty of games the Pats were up big late, but Brady would trot back out onto the field. I never liked that and we are fortunate he didn't take a cheap shot.

They weren't rubbing anything into the Broncos. It wasn't disrespectful.

They wanted to set a team record and did. I like it, records are meant to be broken but until they are they are remembered.

It makes the game fun as well. Nothing wrong with players and coaches actually enjoying the game and not trying to act all mighty and pretentious

I want to hate this, but our Patriots did similar things, trotting Brady out up 25 with 3 minutes left.

It’s a bullsh*t way to set the record, with the opposing team not really trying to stop them at that point. I agree with Fangio, who didn’t sound “all mighty” (the correct phrase is “acting all high and mighty”) or pretentious. It probably is getting more attention than it deserves but it was a bush-league move (something that I would expect from a high school coach), by a scumbag team.

Do you know what would be wicked fun and bring the Ravens players and coaches together?….For an offense led by Jackson to score more than 13 points in a playoff game. I can’t wait for them to lay another egg in the playoffs and then they can be tortured over the decision about whether to give Jackson a long term deal.

It's BS definitely. No argument there, just like it was BS to stop the game and hand Drew Brees a certificate of breaking a record that Brady broke yesterday.

I don't fault players and coaches for enjoying such accomplishments. Or just trying to get them

Pointless thread...who cares?

Wrong.

Also, Bill BelicICK would never something like that in a similar situation. This is not the same as Bill running up the score on an opponent. The closest thing that I can think of is the Flutie drop-kick extra point and that was a nod/tribute to the early days of the NFL and didn’t increase the risk of injury simply to achieve a stat that nobody other than the stat geeks and the Ravens care about.

That is not the same thing, at all. Bill has never been concerned with stats and records (other than records involving wins and losses).

Running up the score can have multiple benefits, including sending a message of intimidation to upcoming opponents and the rest of the league, plus teaching your players to be willing to step on the necks of opponents, and even working on timing/formation/etc. without the risk of losing the game.

Yeah, nobody gets hurt on kicks.

Records matter. Haraugh was right to chase it especially if it's a record that matters to his players and coaches.

It's the NFL not pee wee, if you don't want them to get the record against you stop the run.
