If you can wean yourself off ESPN, I promise you will be better for it - I stopped after last years Super Bowl and have not gone back yet, it was not easy at first, and I found myself wanting to watch the NFL Pre Game with Boomer and the Idiot Ditka this season, but I persevered.

It is easier to do if you have the NFL channel.

i don't watch or listen to espn, it's more like i'm monitoring them. i stopped "listening" 20 years ago (man i must be old).

On the one hand, he says it's 55-45 that Cassel stays.

On the other hand, he suggests the possibility that the Pats trade Cassel for a first or a second . . . and then trade a second to get Derek Anderson. :bricks:

On a side note, comparing John Clayton to Elmer Fudd, one of the great American animated characters, is insulting to Mr. Fudd. Elmer would be 10x the NFL analyst Clayton is: "Duck season. Wabbit season. Football Season!!!"

Is anyone really surprised? Even though it's one of the dumbest things I've ever heard...it's coming from the cryptkeeper, so it's not that surprising. Salisbury was the cryptkeepers counter balance, much like in the Matrix trilogy, so when he left the cryptkeeper just fell off the table.

He got recognized in 2007, as a journalist from the Hall (or something). I guess I got sidetracked because they've been cutting to Clayton for the last year with :"...and now to our own Hall of Famer, John Clayton..."

It was crazy of me to suggest... (obv I was thinking he was elected as journalist - not as middle linebacker ! Can you imagine the carnage ?)

Yup. Envy, right here. Friggin' John Clayton. I know there are enough ESPN haters here to fill up my huge jacuzzi, but if we were to suspend our collective hatred for just a sec - seriously, why does the network actually keep him onboard ? I saw on another site that this morning that apparently Clayton is now saying the Pats will shop Cassel for a 2nd, claiming that they don't want to set the asking price too high and be 'stuck' with him. Sounds like he's using a shotgun approach to his predictions, spraying enough of them around that one of them is bound to be right.

Ugh! I saw him say his Anderson nonsense on the TV as well. Then he put the icing on the cake by very matter-of-factly adding that Brady is having problems with his rehab and is behind schedule, as part of his "reasoning." WHAT?!? I don't see anybody with a cluebat saying that anymore. Way to keep the unsubstantiated rumour mill churning, Egghead! I was such a bizarre combination of dumbstruck and furious that I almost spit on my TV.

I pity the team that overpays for Cassel. He is a serviceable QB but how many QBs have had amazing seasons with Randy Moss??? Jeff George, Randall Cunningham, Danute Culpepper, and Brady had a record setting season. On any other team, Cassel would be just another struggling QB.

That said, I tip my hat to you guys that you can ever turn a career backup into a valuable trading piece. If you guys get anything for him, it's a win-win. I hate you guys.

Well, for the right price, you can have him. And it'd be a bargain compared to what the JEST would have to pay.
