Food for thought: yes, they got a somewhat better pick than the one they used to draft him. But . . . how would things have shaken out if the coaching staff only had one rookie QB to try to develop rather than two?

With that coaching staff nobody was going to become what they could become. They took a flyer on a late round WB who has talent but thinks he’s much better than he actually is, so they traded him and got more than what they paid, that’s not the “ big mistake” a poster claimed it was.

I REALLY hope we don't get seller's remorse every time Joe Milton completes a pass in Dallas' camp. It is tedious already

Milton wasn't a cultural fit. Period. Vrabes picked that up in his first 90 days here. Rather than let the situation fester they moved him.

There is no, nor there should be any remorse.

My biggest regret with Milton is the ton and a half of draft picks Jacksonville parted with to move up to grab Travis Hunter. That’s really his legacy with the Pats.

But it’s water under the bridge. No point in dwelling on it.

But he should go **** himself

I don't think there is, or will be remorse over moving him. I honestly believe he was drafted to be developed and traded.
the remorse seemingly is with the return...and the rush to move him.
granted, if the players were together and practicing, I could understand. But it was the offseason and no one was around.

He is part of the team until he isn't. Some players hang out at the facility to rehab or live locally. During the offseason they talk to one another and to coaches. They set up off season workout sessions. There is some level of interaction all year round. Depending on the relationships it's frequent or infrequent.

There was enough of an issue with him that Vrabes didn't want him as part of the organization.

I totally agree, BUT ... yah wanna bet that when in evidently Milton does something good and it's picked up by the media, someone is going to make note of it.

I blame Mayo and the Bills more than Milton

I 100% disagree with this. Mayo's job as a HC was to win football games. Period and end of story.

The fault completely and totally lies with Bobby K. Adam Schefter reported before the game that the Pats were planning to fire Mayo. THEY SHOULD HAVE FIRED HIM BEFORE THE GAME. They could have easily told the interim coach, "We want to see what the rookies can do. Start Polk, Baker etc." If they had done that we'd have lost for sure and would have had the first overall pick.

That's probably the only thing I don't blame Mayo for.

The likely outcome of that:

"Every club is expected to make a good faith effort to win every game," Goodell said. "It is clear that the Patriots decided that protecting their draft position was more important than making an effort to win, as was evinced by firing their head coach before the game. Therefore, the Patriots will forfeit their first-round pick in the 2025 draft."

Felger will be all over it.

1st, re: Milton and the media; Eff the media. Especially Felger.
2nd re: draft mistake; no way. His physical skills and upside were 100% worth the pick. As @Huckleberry1 pointed out, they improved their position.
3rd: re: remorse: @RobertWeathers is correct. Zero remorse.

I'm sure of it...and even Bob Lobel and the, "Why don't we get players like that". mantra will also resurface.

I take that back it's the players fault. Mayo can't help them once they're between the white lines

That was a disgraceful showing by the Bills... I get the impression no matter what the Pats did they were winning that game.

Who’s the second most important player on the team?

I can't blame players trying to win.
Milton played himself into a better situation (maybe) by playing well
Today’s practice for the Pats was having the QB take what was there, so lots of short passes.

If Milton has a practice where all he is allowed to do is try to complete short passes, he will lose all of his trade value, and the entire WR group will have hand injuries.
