Jimmy looking good to go!

I'm sure Jacoby will master his throwing mechanics and develop into a good or adequate pocklet passer. What I'm more interested in knowing, is whether he can 1) read defenses as well as Brady does and 2) have as quick of a release as Brady and Jimmy does

That will tell us whether he's capable of carrying our offense in Brady's absence or eventual retirement
Valid points all, but not the ones that I was addressing. FWIW, I agree with you.

There's a difference between a "running QB" in the mold of Randall Cunningham or Russell Wilson and a "strong, mobile QB" in the mold of Aaron Rodgers or Ben Roethlisberger who can roam outside the pocket and make plays either with their arms or legs. I think that Brissett looks like the latter. Let's face it, our only role models as QB's for the last 23 or so years have been Bledsoe and Brady, aka "Slower and Slow."

Agreed...although your two examples to me aren't running QBs either. I would counter running QBs are guys like Vick and Tyrod Taylor.

Some comments on the comments:

1. Brissett is NOT a running QB by any means. How can he be? His 40 time (4.94) is only 3 tenths faster than Brady. No. At 6'4 and 250, Brissett is much more in the mold of Ben Rothlessburger than some so called running QB. Big and strong, who is tough to bring down. His running success last week was more a factor of scheme and design, than his "scrambling" and running ability. Hell he's slower than I was in my glory days.

2. Minihane is a **** of epic proportions, a true troll and click baiter. Hell, I predicted JG was going to start on Tuesday after I saw that clip, and BELIEVE me, I have no "sources". Neither does Minihane, who likely has never even been to Foxboro. His post which implies a source, is typical of him.

3. Bellichick fan's post got me thinking. All week we have heard that JG had a grade 2 AC joint injury. This was reported as FACT. My question is, did the Pats ever come out and give this info to the mediots or did it start out as being something they "got from a source", and is now being reported as a fact.

I have wondered about this ever since I heard it being reported. It's definitely not like the Pats to be giving out that kind of detailed info to the media. So does anyone know when and where the "grade 2" story started?

4. JG will have no pain on Sunday. It just doesn't work that way. He will be shot up with cortisone today most likely and novocain on Sunday. The thing to watch will be, IMHO, whether his injury affects his velocity, or arm strength.

Jimmy time is the best time. JB, thank you for stepping up & I hope to see you get better with time. Jimmy's ready now : and he is the man until week 5.

I agree w/ everything, except I think Brissett is faster than his 40 time suggests....dunno if he's as slow as it says he is

It's only his third time starting, so let's give him some room to make mistakes lol

Can't wait to see him play though...and I hope it isn't the last time we get to see him in a Patriots uniform

What BB should have done is...during open session, have Brissett throwing a bunch while Jimmy looks on/throws a few ducks.

Media speculates..."Brissett ready to go, Jimmy still hurting." One idiot quotes the other, speculation becomes fact.

Start Brissett for a set of downs. Switch to Garoppolo. Rex's and goody's heads explode.
BB deadpans he has no control over media speculation, wanted to get Brissett more game experience.
Have Edleman run the wildcat during garbage time..."Didn't want to expose injured QB's unnecessarily late in the game."

Jacoby isn't a "running" QB. I don't get this meme. He's obviously lightning speed faster than Brady (most humans 'cept maybe Drew Bledsoe are) but that's not his strength. He's a pocket QB with a big arm that can escape and run a bit.
Can a mod (@Ian @Ross12 @jmt57 @patchick) please ban this troll. Just look at the post history, it speaks for itself, almost every post is about the Pats cheating..

I second the motion. I think its Gary Tanguay

Except what **** is he stirring other than making people tweet at him or calll into his show to **** all over him for being wrong?
It's part of the Felger schtick, you assert something and then move forward as if its established truth. Tweeting this, only two things can happen, either he scooped everyone if JG plays, of if JG /doesn't/ play, he'll adopt the Felger 'well, why didn't he play? TB12 played after he had his foot amputated? Is he not tough enough? Is he a girl?'. Which will fit perfectly into Minihane's phony super macho ******** persona.

I tell you one thing, there's no way on earth this guy has any inside sources with the team.

He'll never have the mechanics Brady and JG have, you don't radically change that after a guy has come into the league. #1 is more important IMO.

I agree, you don't radically change a guy. But you can help them clean up little things and make them more consistent.

Brady throws differently than JG, and you're not going to get Jacoby to throw like either of them. But guys with unconventional throwing styles can still be successful, like Rivers or Gannon. The key is consistency. And I do think that's an area they can help Jacoby become better.

I don't like Kirk's or Callahan's politics, and their act becomes tiring after a while ...but I sure as hell won't listen to Rich & Fed Tuocher. The morning guys on 98.5 talk like a bunch of boring, annoying teenagers. LOL

Actually you can, and Tom Brady is the #1 example. He didn't come into the league as one of the best arms in the league, far from it. His "weak" arm was supposed to be one of the reasons he fell so far in the draft. No Tom MADE himself into one of the best arms in the league, by doing exactly what you said he couldn't. He changed his mechanics, he learned more about the "science" behind what goes into throwing a football, and he has worked on it, EVERY year he's been in the league. And that's one of bigger reasons he's remained so productive so late in his career.

The same goes for Brissett. He will have at least 2 more seasons to work on improving his mechanics and release time. He will have at least 2 more seasons to know the offense better so he can improve and speed up his decision making. 2 years from now he might not look anything like the kid who managed to get through his first start, so we should never judge him on what we saw that night. Plus what have we seen about this kid's make up. Dare I say, its almost Brady-like in his work ethic and focus.

I don't know how good Jacoby Brissett is going to be, but I DO know that he will end up being the best QB he can be, that he will reach his maximum potential....whatever that turns out to be.

Randall Cunningham broke the mold and paid the price, but I would agree that we could debate about how to describe Wilson.

Agree 100%. The 98.5 guys are these 40 or so guys stuck in their middle school/high school days. Their music taste sucks, their movie taste sucks and they come off as if they were the coolest guys in the cafeteria in 8th grade. They're f###### nerds. It's as if they act out the Breakfast Club every morning. The cherry on the sundae is John "The Village Idiot" Wallach. Then, switching over to the other guys and we're treated to K-K Kallahole and Minihane. Only those 2 ***holes could turn Tanguay into a sympathetic figure as they did last week when they accused him of being a pedophile and joked about that topic as if it were comparable to a craving for honey roasted peanuts. Great choices around here from 6:00-10:00 and, frankly, embarrassing for a media market the size of Boston.

VAI JIMMY !!! GRANDE

If im Belichick I have Brisset magically reinjure his thumb and put him on IR to free a roster spot.
Makes alot of sense I wouldnt be surprised if he catches the Foxboro flu.

I don't really agree about the mechanic. Yes, Tom improved, and he studied tremendously hard, but he still has recognizably the same throwing mechanics as he did in the first SB. He's refined it some, and I'm sure he's done endless exercises to improve his arm strength, and he's always incredibly careful to be in balance when he's throwing, but he still looks like the same guy throwing the ball that he did back then.

Jacoby is still very raw which is understandable. He threw for 100 yrds and had 1 great running play where he caught the Texans with their pants down.

I hope Jimmy G is ready to go. I want to see more game time from him, it sucks he got hurt.
