Meanwhile over on Gang Green Forum, we have a
thread titled:
Time to rebuild yet again!
I love how the thread starter is making strong points while the others call him an idiot. Their rebuild is not going far enough. Wilson and Gardner are going to be past their prime and over-paid if/when the team comes out of the rebuild. The smart move would have been to go all-in and trade them for draft capital instead of signing them to long-term deals. The only sensible reason to not do that is because management wants to put butts in seats, but by not doing it they probably gave themselves an extra year of rebuilding. Knowing how the Jets operate this extra year means the coach gets fired and then they add another year to the rebuild. This is how they end up with perpetual rebuild cycles.
Just think about it: Jete fans are at the start of their Cam Newton season after living through the Ahole Era, the Punky Era, and the Darnit Era. They haven't had a playoff appearance since the Sexy Rexy / Dirty Sanchez Era. They won't get one this year either, and probably not next year since it'll be the first year with a new QB with lots of bad players around him.
