Jets Suck -- 2019 Edition (Official): Entering A New Half-Century of Moronic Mediocrity!

Year 1 - Fill your absurd amount of cap space (since your team sucks and couldn’t extend any homegrown players) and buy a bunch of overvalued free agents. Hire new coach, finish with 9-10 wins, and hope for playoffs.

Darn. Gase has failed already.

Take a look at the roster and notice how many homegrown/drafted guys there are. Way too many!

It's way too early to scapegoat Googly Gaze. Blame Maccromagnon for failing to bring in talent.

Without question the Jete will have an occasional winning season. What they won't have is sustained success.
Know how many times the Jets have won 13 games in a season?

That would be: None. It has never happened. 12-4 in 1998 under Parcells was their high water mark as a franchise.

It’s because they have a 4 year plan.

Year 1 - Fill your absurd amount of cap space (since your team sucks and couldn’t extend any homegrown players) and buy a bunch of overvalued free agents. Hire new coach, finish with 9-10 wins, and hope for playoffs.

Year 2 - Regress to a 7-8 win team as you no longer have a lottery draft pick, all of a sudden you don’t have much cap space, and players underperforming their huge contracts becomes a domino effect.

Year 3 - Hype up that the team was better than their record last year, but enter real cap hll since the the deferred giant contracts from year 1 become due. Hands tied to improve at all, it put it in coach’s shoulders with unrealistic playoff ultimatum. 4-6 win team.

Year 4 - Go into “rebuilding/tank mode” while blaming the coach for failure and making him a lame duck while cutting veterans and creating the absurd cap space again that led to this downfall to begin with. Compete for worst record, promise huge changes and free agency splash in offseason. Fire coach and promise new one is better. 3-4 win team.

Then repeat cycle.

This 4-year cycle has been posted again and again in these threads over the years. It has never not once not never borne out to be incorrect.

The Eagles were my sleeper team for 2017. The Bears were my sleeper team last year. It'll be official when I post my season previews in the summer, but I get the sense that the Jets might be my sleeper team for 2019. Sam Darnold is going to be much better with experience, and Le'Veon Bell's presence in the backfield won't hurt. The Jets also upgraded their offensive line by trading for Kelechi Osemele, so their offense will be much better this year. Their defense, meanwhile, will be much better with Quinnen Williams and Jachai Polite. I've already bet them to win the Super Bowl at 125/1 odds, and I'd take them at 80/1, which is what the number currently is.

WTF is "Walterfootball.com"? A site run by a Jete fan named Walter?

I found the site years ago when I got into Fantasy Ball.

Surprised to see this though cause he usually hates the Jets.

What more do you need to discredit it considering that Walter openly admitted he took his own money, went to a sportsbook, and placed a bet (aka gave it away) on the 2019 New York Jets to win the Super Bowl?

Worth noting how Wally left out his sleeper pic for 2016 was the 1-15 Brownies.

The site is filled with gaffes. Not that everyone isn’t often wrong in the unpredictable sport of football, but it’s clear there’s nothing beyond typical fan speculation. I posted last year one where gave the Rams an F for hiring Sean McVeigh and ranted for three paragraphs about how they’ll crash and burn.

But...but...but there are 11 writers listed there, and 4 of them even have twitter accounts!
Check out this impressive bio:

If you don't understand the value of being a birder, native plant gardener and poet to keen football (ahem) analysis well then...

...welcome to the club

Le'Veon Bell. Jete fans are buying into him.

My prediction: Le'Veon Bell absolutely plays average or worse. He might have a couple strong showings, but hes a Jete and I sense NO heart from him.

Quinnen Williams eager to sack Tom Brady, who was “in the NFL before I was born”
Posted by Michael David Smith on May 14, 2019, 5:51 AM EDT

Jets rookie Quinnen Williams knows that Tom Brady is the No. 1 target for any defensive lineman in the AFC East is. Even if he doesn’t know all the details about Brady’s biography.

Williams said that getting to sack Brady would be a special experience, and then made a comment about their age difference.

“It’s crazy because Tom Brady started playing in the NFL before I was born,” Williams said. “To sack him would be amazing.”

That is not correct. Williams was born in 1997. Brady was drafted in 2000. Brady isn’t quite as old as Williams thinks he is. And Williams’ presence in the division gives Brady one more reason to keep working on his pliability and staying one step ahead of the pass rush.

Poor Quinnen, hasn't played a snap and he already needs to be in concussion protocol.

If this is his 'baseline', he'll never test as concussed unless he's unconscious.

Has this moron blessed and thanked himself again after sneezing lately? I'll bet he also figures out a way to kick himself in the balls when the Jete lose.

Someone needs to send him this. He'll think it's his college diploma and have it framed:

Quincentennial seems completely the type to bust out an elaborate sack dance while trailing 45-3. Hopefully he doesn’t hurt his knee doing so like that guy from the Bears.

My phone autocorrected his name. After the second time I didn’t bother fixing it.
